When you hear the words “Beauty Blender” what image come to mind?
I picture a really gorgeous tall, pale woman with ice blond hair and hot red lips wearing a black leather corset in her pristine white on white kitchen whipping together a concoction of cosmetics in her blender. Sounds like a magazine ad from the 90’s. 🙂
The Original Beauty Blender is in fact a little egg shaped hot pink sponge that is used for applying foundation or concealer. Neat!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this little fella from other beauty bloggers and some YouTube folks and since using a sponge is almost as easy as using my fingers (which I usually do) I figured I would try it out.
The Original Beauty Blender comes in a plastic container wither either one or two sponges nestled inside, depending on which one you order. It even has a “pedestal” inside the container to set them to dry out once you clean them.
It also comes with a little sample of their own cleanser, which you don’t have to use if you choose to use something else.
Basically what this sponge does is helps you apply foundation or concealer in a kind of fun and simple way.
I dot foundation all over my face, like usual, then use the slightly dampened sponge to kind of “bounce” over the areas and blend the foundation into my skin.
The sponge very easily melts the product into your skin without having those annoying drag marks you sometimes get with a brush.
You can use the smaller pointy end for harder to reach areas such as around your nose and between the eyes.
As with all products you use to apply makeup, you will have to clean it, which is a cinch.
I put a small amount of cleanser onto the dampened sponge and work it in until it’s clean. Then I just rinse and squeeze excess water out. Then I set it out in a cup to dry out until next time! I wash it every couple times I use it, not every time.
More good things to note about this. It is latex free for those who have allergies to latex and once it becomes old, you can send it back to them to recycle if you are so inclined.
Since I got it, this is the only way I have been applying my foundation and I am really liking it. Somehow I find it more fun than just using my fingers and easier than a brush. Using this requires less blending on my part, which is a huge plus for me when I am getting ready at 5:15 am.
Availability: Beauty.com, Sephora, etc.
Pricing: $19.95 for a single, $25.95 for the double
Have you tried this yet? What do you think about sponge vs. a brush for foundation application?
