Sonia Kashuk has some new brushes out for spring 2011, which includes a new line called Brush Couture. Can you tell why? ๐
I fell in love with the design on these the second I saw them. I mean why have plain ‘ole black handles when you can have colored, patterned ones?
The Brush Couture Five-Piece Brush Set includes
- Powder brush
- Synthetic concealer/foundation brush
- Crease brush
- Small eye shadow brush
- Smudge brush
Powder, Concealer/Foundation, Small Eye Shadow, Crease, Smudge
I have been testing these out the last couple weeks and like what I have seen.
The powder brush is pretty big and very “loose” feeling, meaning the bristles are fairly long and it’s not super dense. It works pretty well with very pigmented blushes, but not that great with lighter ones. The bristles are so long that you don’t get as much color onto your checks as with shorter, more dense ones, so I think it’s best with powder blushes like Benefit La Bamba, etc.
The synthetic concealer/foundation brush is nice and feels soft. I like it for concealer, but not foundation, it’s just too small unless you are focusing on an area like just around your nose. I still prefer to apply concealer with my finger though.
I absolutely love the crease brush, it’s fabulous and not like any other crease brush I own. It’s packed pretty densely and is on the short round side. It’s super fluffy and comes to a point at the tip. This allows for really precise shadow application in the crease. It does pick up a lot of shadow, so be careful of that. It’s now my go-to crease brush for finer crease-work.
The small eye shadow brush is also really nice for packing on shadow on your lid. It’s soft and picks up a good amount of product. It definitely is on the smaller side, so I don’t find myself reaching for it all that often.
The smudge brush has short bristles with a slightly rounded, narrow edge. I confess I haven’t really used this one yet, I don’t often use smudger brushes. Maybe I need to try them out and see what they’re all about!
Overall:
I think this is a nice little set and especially for the price. The handle design is so cute and to be honest, I would have paid the whole price of the set for just the crease brush, I like it that much!
Availability: Target
Pricing: $14.99
What do you think about these? Would you try them?

Hi rosie,
Great deal, huh? ๐

Silvaยดs last post…China Glaze Ruby Pumps
Same – what a steal!
They carry that Sonia Kashuk brush set on target.com and usually run a free shipping with $50 or so year round. Otherwise, their shipping cost isn’t too bad and they ship rather quickly too so you won’t have to wait too long to play with the new brushes. HTH
Wow! Those are so cute. If I make it to Target in the near future and see those I will definitely pick them up. I love a good crease brush!
OK – I saw these and now I know I need them like you said if nothing else but for the crease brush. I’ve been using the E.L.F. crease brush – do you have any idea how it compares as it’s pretty good for $3!
Hi Sandy,
I don’t have any elf brushes for comparison, sorry!
I’m lovin’ these! It looks like these are shorter handled brushes, is that true? (I hope so) Great for travel, AND I can get close to the mirror when I need to see!
These are really pretty. Shame all companies don’t make pretty handles.
I really like design of this kit and if it’s as good as you write then it great deal to buy it, btw. i like blue so it’s another advantage for me ; )
Dude! I love the Sonia Kashuk brushes I have and these are so cute. Not to mention my duo fibre brush from her line was like $12 and all of these are $14.99? Sign me up!
