Fact: My Dior Vernis addiction has taken hold firmly and I am unable to resist.
Case in point, their new limited edition collection called Dior Vernis Gris City. This collection was inspired by three great cities.
- Gris Montaigne – Medium grey creme – Inspired by the Dior house in Paris
- NY 57th – Dark charcoal grey metallic – Inspired by Manhattan at night
- Bond Street – Deep blue/grey creme – Inspired by the London fog
Despite the fact that I was way less excited about these from the promo pics (unlike their latest few colors) I felt the need to posses them all. 🙂
The color Gris Montaigne is making an appearance in another Dior collection called “Gris Montaigne” which is their spring 2011 collection. The other nail color in that collection is a pale pink called Pink Boa.
Gris Montaigne looks to be just a plain ‘ole grey creme, but in fact it has extremely subtle silver shimmer dispersed throughout. I like the color a lot, however I am pretty sure I have other grey cremes that are extremely close to this color. It covered in just two coats.
NY 57th is a dark charcoal grey metallic with silver shimmer. This is another one where I really like the color, but think it’s already been done. This was almost opaque in one coat, but I used two.
Bond Street also looks to be just a creme unless you look super close and see the subtle silver shimmer. For all intents and purposes though, this is a creme. I think of the three this was my favorite simply because I’m not sure I have a blue exactly like it yet. It’s dark and murky, very much a blue/grey color. This was two coats.
Well I like the idea of the collection more than the colors itself. It’s not all that unique really, but all the colors are still pretty and covered really nicely. Are they worth $21.00 each though? Methinks not. But that won’t stop me from purchasing Dior in the future if I see something that catches my eye!
Dior.com (for all three colors) or Nordstrom, Sephora for just Gris Montaigne.
How are you feeling about these three colors?
