Hard Candy has some really cool new eye products out, including some called Eye Def Glitter Creme Eye Shadows.
These glittery beauties come in a little “test tube” like bottle, and are currently offered in eight different colors.
I first saw these at Walmart recently and was thinking they looked SO amazing in the packaging, but was worried they would be gritty or watery or just cheap feeling. I am really glad I took the plunge though because they turned out to be pretty cool.
Liar (green) and Sequin (purple)
Liar and Sequin
Liar is an amazing olive green with gold glitter. The color is just fantastic, I love anything and everything this color. Sequin is a beautiful bright purple with blue and purple glitter.
These creme eyeshadows come in a plastic tube with a long bent angled doe foot applicator. I’m not huge on the applicator, I find it too long and a bit unwieldy to use. However I have no problem using my fingers, so it’s not a big deal for me.
The colors feel really nice, not gritty like you would expect with so much glitter. They do feel slightly “texturized” once dry, but again it’s not really noticeable unless you are rubbing your eye back and forth. And they are a lot less gritty than some glitter nail polishes! 🙂
Both of these were extremely opaque, not patchy or watery as I had expected. You don’t need much when applying, and they spread out nicely.
One thing to be aware of is these do dry fairly quickly and once they’re dry they are ON, so you have to work faster than with a normal shadow.
They do come off very easily with soap and warm water, so no need to worry about scrubbing the eye area to remove them.
Liar on eyelid
Once I had Liar on my lid I was kind of like, ok what now? I wasn’t sure how I would blend it out past the lid because it was dry, and not really a blend-able kind of eye shadow. So what I did was I used the olive green from the NYX Haute Model shadow in the crease and blended that into it. Then I used MAC Vanilla as a highlight. You could do something similar with the other colors, just find a similar powder eye shadow and use that to blend with the crease.
Once it’s on, it’s not really as glittery and crazy as it looks on my hand swatch. The glitter is most definitely there, but it’s more on the subtle side than some I have seen.
I am really happy with these and most definitely plan on getting some of the other colors now. I think these are a really fun and easy way to add a bit of bling to the eye!
What do you think about these? Have you tried anything from the new Hard Candy line yet?
