Riva is the new nail colour from Chanel’s Côte d’Azur 2010 Cruise Collection. This collection was inspired by the vibrant and beautiful colors of the island of Saint Tropez.
Riva is a pale ocean blue with (very) subtle blue shimmer. Oh and despite what most other blogs are saying this color is not $39.00, it’s $27.00.
I searched high and low in my collection of blue polishes to find a dupe, but came up empty. I didn’t really even have any close that were worth comparing, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s fairly unique. That’s not to say there isn’t a dupe out there, but I definitely don’t own it!
Riva (fancy picture, no?)
Riva is really quite sheer and I was pretty convinced at first it wasn’t going to ever be opaque. The formula does go on a bit uneven and it’s fairly thin. I read some people had bottles with a thick formula, but mine wasn’t at all.
This is one that you definitely have to wait a few minutes in-between coats because otherwise you will wind up with cuticle drag. I used four thin coats to achieve maximum opacity, but you could definitely do three and it would be fine. After four coats the color is just gorgeous. I am a huge fan of pale blues, so this is perfect for me. The shimmer is very subtle, but you can see it here in the flash photo. You won’t notice it indoors though, which is a bummer.
When you move away from a super close-up view, you don’t really see the shimmer as much.
Despite the fact that it’s sheer and the shimmer isn’t as obvious as I would like, I still really like this color. I know it’s not for everyone, and a lot of people won’t want to pay $27.00 for it, but I have no regrets!
What do we think about Riva? I may be giving away a bottle soon, so stay tuned! 😉
