Are these not the cutest things you have ever laid eyes on? These are soaps!!
Yes friends, there is a company that makes handmade soaps in the shape of fortune cookies in different scents and even places a fortune inside!
Fortune Cookie Soaps makes a large variety of scented soap as well as other products like scrubs, bath bombs, bath salts and masks.
The company was started by Shannon and Justin, now husband and wife, in a small California apartment. They wanted to make hand crafted soaps for friends and family for Christmas gifts. They have now grown out of that apartment in California, moved to Oklahoma and sell their soaps in 75 stores in a large bath and body chain.
As mentioned they have a really wide variety of the fortune cookie soap scents including buttered popcorn, cabaret, Colombian coffee, lilac and pumpkin pie, to name a few.
I also purchased their Chillin’ Vanillin Sugar Scrub because I am a sucker for vanilla scented anything, and it looked really cool. 🙂
Cinnamon Rolled Soap
This is a cinnamon roll scented soap. The scent is just spot on, it smells exactly like Cinnabon to me and I absolutely love it. It also looks really cool with the “melted frosting” effect.
Though the fortune cookie soaps are fairly good sized, they are hollow inside, so they definitely do not last as long as a normal soap bar would. In fact I used mine up in a week. Well let me explain.
When you first use it it’s kind of awkward. The shape isn’t one I am used to so I dropped it a lot. I noticed it doesn’t lather up as much as a regular soap either, which is a negative for me. I like lots of lather.
The soap collapsed into a flat shape after 3 or 4 washes which made it easier to hold. Kind of. It was this weird flat collapsed fortune cookie shape, so still not the same as a regular bar. But I noticed when it was flat it lathered up much better.
After a week of using it I tossed it because it was falling apart. I suppose you could get a soap saver and it would extend the life.
The scent was still nice and cinnamon-y even when wet but I didn’t smell like a cinnamon roll after I toweled off, which is a positive for me. I don’t want to smell like that all day.
I love that they put this sticker on the bottom of the bag it comes in. Smells so good you MIGHT want to eat it!
The Candy Addict Soap
The Candy Addict smells just like a sweet piece of candy!
Takes The Cake Soap
Takes the Cake smells like vanilla butter-cream cake, just YUMMY! It’s not overly sweet and fake smelling like a lot of cake lotions and scents I have smelled before. It has tiny glitter pieces on it, but since I haven’t yet used it, I don’t know if they come off onto your skin and stick or not.
Sugar Scrub Chillin Vanillin
They have 4 different sugar scrub scents and this one appealed to me the most. The scent is vanilla with a bit of peppermint. Very Christmas-y to me and really nice. The sugar granuales are really fine and don’t feel too harsh on the skin.
The only negative I have with this is that it’s got tiny flecks of glitter in it and they do stick to your skin, even after toweling off. I might think that was cute if I was much younger, but I am not into it now! It won’t stop me from using it though since it’s pretty subtle and there aren’t a lot of them
Sugar Scrub Chillin Vanillin
I think these are really cute soaps and would make great gifts. They were awkward to use though and I wasn’t thrilled with how fast they got used up. I don’t think I would purchase these again for myself personally, but they are adorable and the scents are really great. The sugar scrub is great and I would re-purchase again, but maybe one that had no glitter.
