Dior is a brand of nail polish that I don’t buy all that often because for one, they never had that many colors that appealed to me and for two, they are tres $$$. Well not as $$$ as Chanel perhaps, but they are in smaller bottles at 0.33 fl oz.
However just recently I have come across a few Dior’s that REALLY caught my eye and I felt the need to possess them.
They are releasing two new colors for Christmas/Holiday 2010 called Timeless Gold and Or Tsarine Czarina Gold that are both gorgeous.
Something to note about Dior’s polish is that they brush is very wide and tapered, and may take some getting used to. It’s not enough to deter me from these beautiful colors though.
Timeless Gold is a pale, cool gold/platinum metallic color. This one is interesting because in some ways it looks like gold in others ways silver. It has a nice foil effect, and I love the coolness of it. There was not a brush stroke in sight and it covered very nicely in just two coats. I’m pleased that this wasn’t just a gold or silver metallic, they went down the middle of the two making it more unique looking.
Or Tsarine Czarina Gold
Or Tsarine Czarina Gold is a black base packed with gold shimmer. In fact I feel like this leans more towards an olive green with gold, rather than black with gold. It definitely has a strong, dark green look to it much like Chanel’s Or de Russie from two years back. This is much blacker/darker of a base than that was though. It’s also similar to China Glaze Wagon Trail, but again, I think this is darker. It’s also reminiscent of Dolce & Gabbana Stromboli, but that was slightly more green looking and had more, larger gold pieces in it. I dunno, either way I absolutely LOVE IT and knew I was going to when I saw the promo pics. This is “my” color. These olive greens are the ones I will hunt down and find no matter what. I must own them all! This went on very nicely and was opaque in two coats.
I love ’em! I think both are really nice, but Or Tsarine Czarina Gold is the clear winner for me personally. I know the price is steep which is why I graded them down slightly from a straight “A”. I would much rather pay $10.00 for them, but for me if the color is unique and I love it, I will pay for it. 🙂
Ok folks, what do you think about these? Do you own any Dior polishes?
