Physicians Formula has a pretty new collection based on eye color called Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Pop Collection. They have a set for blue, green, hazel and brown eyes, and each “eye color” has an eyeshadow palette, gel liner set and duo-mascara.
Awhile ago I showed you the eyeshadow palette from the blue eyes set. Since then I bought the entire green collection, the rest of the blue collection and some of the brown collection.
The basic idea behind these sets is that the colors are supposed to make your eye POP! I have always heard that using a color the opposite of your eye color on the color wheel makes your eyes stand out. Each set does contain opposite colors, but also corresponding ones. Obviously there is no set rule, anyone can wear whatever they want! I have dark blue/grey eyes, but happen to like the green set the best because I am attracted to these colors the most.
Pop Green Eyeshadow Palette
The colors in this set include a few greens, some purples, a pale icy blue a bright purple/pink and a white/green duochrome highlight color.
The color payoff varies depending on the color. I found that the darker colors had pretty saturated color, whereas the lighter ones tended to be less opaque. I did like every single color in this particular palette and would definitely wear them all.
The only downside I see to these is that the highlight color is very frosty and a little much for me, as I prefer something more subtle on the brow bone. It does make for a gorgeous inner-eye color though!
L to R: White/green highlight, celedon green, pale lavender
L to R: Pale silver/green, deep teal, medium purple
L to R: Olive/yellow/green, medium pink/purple, dark mossy green
Pop Eye Enhancing Gel Creamliner
Next up is the green gel liner set. These are 3 stackable pots that each contain a different color. They come with a little brush for application, that I didn’t use. The stacks pull apart and each have their own lid.
These are extremely creamy and opaque! I was very surprised at how nice they were. I don’t have a lot of experience with drug store gel liners so I had a vision of patchy colors and dry gel, but these were definitely not.
The colors that come with the green set are green with light green glitter, purple and black with specks of green glitter.
I really liked all three of these colors, but I have to say the green and black are particularly spectacular. I love the green specks in the black especially.
Pop Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo
To top off the green eye look we now come to the dual-ended mascara. The green one features a jet black on one end and bright green on the other end.
The black mascara on it’s own is really nice and has little specks of colored shimmer in it, but it’s not very obvious on the eye. I like this type of rubberized wand, it really helps de-clump and separate my lashes.
The green is fabulous as well and also has tiny specks of glitter. Since my lashes are on the light side if I used the green alone it wouldn’t darken my lashes enough. So I first use the black then add some green on the tips and it definitely stands out. Love it!
I think this is a really good collection and I recommend the entire thing. Unlike some of the other pop colors, I think everything in this set had great color payoff and quality. For the price I think this is pretty decent also. Everything is priced at around $11.00, which seems high until you realize what you are getting. For the eyeshadow you are getting nine colors. The liners you get three colors and the mascara you get two colors.
Have you tried any of these yet? Which are your favs?
Stay tuned for more from the blue and brown sets!
