Fact: I look like an alien if I don’t fill in my brows. I have light brown, kind of sparse brow hairs that MUST be filled in at all times if I leave the house, lest I scare people to death. 🙂
Enter Milani’s Brow Fix Brow Kit. The one I got is the “light” version. There is also a medium and dark kit. This adorable little kit comes with two brow filler colors, a dark brown and taupe brown, along with a shimmery peach highlighter. It also comes with a small angled brow brush, a sponge highlight applicator and a tiny pair of slanted tweezers.
How cute is this? I love that the brush container thingie (yes that’s the proper terminology) pops up to reveal a little magnified mirror underneath. It’s really just about everything you need for your brows in one compact kit!
L to R: Hi-Lite color, Brow 1, Brow 2
The colors were better than I had expected. They have good payoff and are nicely milled. For me the light kit would be the way to go since I have blond hair, fair skin and blue eyes. I generally like to fill my brows in with a color about 2-3 shades darker than my hair color is, though that varies A LOT. 🙂 The Hi-Lite is a nice addition, though I rarely use a brow highlighter since I usually have MAC Vanilla under my brows already.
My normal brow routine is to use either MAC Omega eyeshadow as a filler or Benefit Brow Zings. There are things I like and don’t like about these products though.
MAC Omega is the perfect shade for me however I do have to use it wet usually to get the correct color payoff, so that’s an extra step.
Benefit’s Brow Zings is a nice little compact which include a brow color, a corresponding brow gel to set the brows, two small brushes, a small slanted tweezer and mirror. But what I don’t love about it is sometimes I feel the brow gel makes my brows look a little fuzzy or muddy looking. I can’t always get a really crisp shape with it, so I go between the two. It also tends to wipe off a lot easier than Omega does.
What’s nice about this brow kit is that the color payoff seems to be a little darker on me than MAC Omega, and doesn’t look muddy at all. I do wish it had some kind of gel set for after I fill them in because that’s another step I always do to keep them in place. I would rather have a little clear gel than the highight shade quite frankly, then I could really consider this all-in-one.
Comparing prices, MAC Omega is $14.50 but lasts for like a year or so and you can use it as an eyeshadow, since technically that’s what it is. Benefit Brow Zings compact comes in at $30.00, and they have light, medium and dark versions. I have been using it pretty frequently for about 6 months and haven’t come even close to being 1/4 of the way through it, so it’s definitely also long lasting. The Milani Brow Kit is about $6.49, depending on where you go, and I suspect it will also last a long time.
I think this is a really nice, cute, cost-effective kit and definitely recommend it.
