Dr. Facilier is the newest Disney villain, but the makeup collection that MAC worked on in “his honor” is pretty fabulous!
The details are:
- Truth & Light Magically Cool Liquid Powder – Sheer shimmer reflects silver and pink
- Cajun Magically Cool Liquid Powder – Sheer bronze shimmer reflects gold
- Resort Life Lip Gelee – Off white with pink pearl
- French Quarter Greasepaint Stick – Dirty black green with multi-colored pearl
- Slick Black Greasepaint Stick – True carbon black
- Melon Pigment – Soft bright golden peach (frost)
- Brash & Bold Pigment – Bright magenta (frost)
- Push The Edge Pigment – Depp bright purple with pearl (frost)

This stuff is weird! It’s very cool and liquid-y, yet powdery as well. I’m not really sure what I would use it for exactly though. If you rub it in it tends to get crumbly because of the water (I assume). Strange!

Overall:
There are definitely some things here I really like, and some I could do without. I like the idea of the magically cool liquid powders, but am not sure how one would use them. The greasepaint stick in French Quarter is a total must-have for me but Slick Black is just black, so not all that interesting. I do love all three pigments, but especially Push The Edge. Also loving Resort Life, even though it’s pretty subtle.
How are you feeling about Dr. Facilier?

I’m tempted with French Quarter and Bold & Brash. I have had Push The Edge and Melon for some time, and love them both. I’d also be tempted by Truth & Light, but if I am honest with myself I doubt I’d have a use for it – it would just be a novelty, which is also the reason why it will sell out the moment it hits the UK
Push The Edge is the only thing I like, and even that is not a must for me. The only Villain that I could skip in a heartbeat.

Is it just me who thinks putting Disney characters on mid/high-end cosmetics is a really bad idea? Simply not the done thing. What were they thinking?
Hi Jen,
Why do you think that?
VV, it could be that, in some way, MAC is marketing to young girls, even if it’s just in a subtle way. Our family (I have two kids under 6) just watched “101 Dalmations” on Sunday, so I’m sure my little girl would recognize & want the lipsticks I bought from this collection. It didn’t stop me from getting them, but I can see how some people might have a problem with it. I’m not trying to speak for Jen, here, but that’s my take on the whole thing.
Hi SB_Sweetie,
Yeah I can see how people might think that. I would be more inclined to think it though if it were the young “good” characters in the movies. My step-daughter is way past Disney age (12) but even if she wanted them, she ain’t getting them until she’s wayyyy older, lol! 🙂
Honestly, I hadn’t even thought about this issue until I read it here. But, I can definitely see a young girl (under 10 years) walking by the MAC counter with her mom & wanting those products (as opposed to other brands) because of the Disney characters. I’m curious to see what my local MAC store’s window display will look like…maybe a sinister version of a Disney store. Love it or hate it, Disney has brilliant marketing.
i dislike that creeper on the compact o_O i remember someone saying the evil queen would’ve been a better choice, and i concur. great swatches!
I didn’t order anything from this collection. Nothing I wanted. I’m also not thrilled with this Disney character. I prefer the older ones.
Mmmm, the pigments are so pretty! The gloss has a great color too!
Love the pigments!

My daughters are adult now but I could see it as a sinister way to appeal to a younger market if I thought about it much. For me it’s just the Disney tastelessness and crassness that makes these products look so trashy and cheap.
It may be a cultural thing. For many people in the UK Disney = cheap kiddie rubbish. Call it a snobbish attitude if you will but nobody in my age or social group would admit to buying these products.
I’m not saying there haven’t been some good Disney films but the Disney marketing is greatly disliked by some sectors of society.
Dr Facilier scared the crap out of me in the film and I don’t think I’d want anything with his mug on it. Although the pigments and Resort Life are gorgeous. #
Your photos are brilliant, by the way.

I bought French Quater today and LOVE it!!!! Once you put it on it doesnt budge!!! I tested it on my hand, and have washed my hand at least three times and it is still on there!! MUST OWN THIS!!!
From this collection I bought: the mirror compact, Resort Life, and French Quarter.
I actually like that they picked a newer character and that it’s a male. If I had a choice, I would have preferred a mirror compact with Cruella or the Evil Queen, but I still like this.
As far as Disney = cheap, I don’t agree. I also don’t think that Disney automatically means it’s geared to young girls. The fact that it is a villian collection as opposed to princesses or fairies makes it seem obvious that it’s NOT geared towards a younger market.
