Chanel recently released a limited edition collection for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out (at Fashion Week in NYC last week) called Les Khakis de Chanel. The second I saw promo pics for this collection I KNEW I must possess it!
It was no easy task hunting these down. The second they finally went online on Chanel’s website I was on it adding them to my cart. Then the site hung. And hung. And hung. And kicked them out of my cart. And hung. So I got completely annoyed and called the Chicago, IL Nordstrom (after I had called all over the SF/Bay Area and no one was getting them) and ordered them on the phone. Another blogger called Steph from Stephs Closet mentioned on Twitter that’s where she got hers from. And BAM it was easy as pie. I wouldn’t hold my breath that they still have them though, they were selling out fast a week ago…
I rarely get as frenzied as I did for this collection, but it does happen every once in awhile. The colors are just *so* me. Anything with an olive green or khaki, barfy color and I’m so there!
The collection is made up of three new creme colors very muted and military-esque.
The formula was really nice applying these. I haven’t yet worn them so I can’t comment on wear. They were all opaque in two coats.
Khaki Vert is a medium muted sage green. It’s got a bit of grey to it. It’s very mellow, subtle and chic. I absolutely love this color and don’t have dupes for it, though I have heard some people found some less expensive dupe alternatives.
Khaki Brun is a dark olive green with a touch of brown. It looks more brown in the bottle than on the nail for me. WOW. This is why I bought this whole collection, I needed this color. I don’t care if people say it looks like baby poop or whatever, it’s incredibly flattering and interesting to me.
Khaki Rose is a medium rose/brown color. This is the least exciting one here in my opinion, but it still has a little “something” about it that says edgy and chic to me. Hmm, maybe it’s just the marketing though because I can’t pinpoint exactly what I like about it. 🙂
Fabulous. Edgy. Creamy. Fun. Unique. Expensive. Hard-to-find. I am really happy I spent the $$$ on this, I don’t regret it. These colors happen to draw me in every time, but they probably aren’t for everyone! Especially at that hard-to-swallow price!
What do you think about these colors? Did you spurge and get any?
