Stila Kajal, where have you been all my life?
Maybe I am really late in the game on this, but since I have been hearing so much about Stila Kajal eyeliner lately, I thought I would give ’em a go. Love at first swipe.
They come in eight different colors and but the ones I have been trying are Emerald (deep green) and Smokey Quartz (deep charcoal grey).
These are some seriously soft and creamy eyeliners folks. No joke. I am not sure I have ever used anything quite like them before. They almost feel like gel in pencil form, they are so smooth.
Not only are they smooth, they are very opaque and stay on the waterline pretty nicely. There is absolutely no tugging on my lid when applying these, and they blend out very nicely also.
L to R: Smokey Quartz, Emerald
L to R: Emerald, Smokey Quartz
Emerald is a deep green with a hint of silvery shimmer. Smokey Quartz is a dark charcoal grey. These swatches are ONE swipe!!!
There are a couple caveats with these liners in my opinion though. One is that they are so creamy that they wear down a little fast. I can see myself sharpening them into oblivion pretty quickly if I used them all the time. The second is the price, which is a little high. They are $18.00 each.
Overall:
I am amazed that I never tried these until recently and if you are looking for an ultra-smooth liner with maximum waterline staying power, you might have good luck with these.
Have you tried these yet?

I haven’t tried these but I keep hearing wonderful things about them. I’m looking for a liner to use on my bottom lash line. Gels and liquids aren’t the look I’m gong for. And most pencils are a waste of my time either fading or making me look Robert Smith.
These seem like what I’ve been looking for.
Hi Victoria,
These have really good staying power and are definitely a softer look than a liquid liner.
Kelly, your pics are fantastic! I’ve never tried these, but totally want to after hearing a lot about the opaqueness of the black one…I think the price is holding me back the most 🙂
Hi KristyQ,
Thanks! That one isn’t black though it’s dark grey. They do have a black one though, but I haven’t tried it 🙂
Hi Kelly,
I haven’t seen these liners, but I’ve been using and loving the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof liners this summer because of heat and humidity. I’ll will definitely be picking up the Emerald. They look really opaque! Thanks for the swatches!
Hmmm, I’m always up for trying eyeliner for my waterline. I’ve been holding off on these b/c I’m afraid they’ll perform similar to the Urban Decay 24/7 liners which absolutely do not stay put for me. I’ve had the best luck w/ MUFE Aqua Eyes so far, but I’ll give these a go. Thanks for the review, I’ve been waiting forever for someone to review these (maybe I should have just done it myself, eh?). 🙂
These look beautiful! I come from a culture that has traditionally used kajal and use it myself in almost every make-up look I do. If you can find a South Asian grocer, you can pick up a little container of the stuff (in black) for about 2 bucks.

Will you be getting any others? I keep wanted to check these out but always forget to look for them. I recently started using a Milani pencil liner which rocks on the waterline. Stays on longer than anything I’ve ever tried.
marisol´s last post…Oh London you rocked!
Hi marisol,
I probably will get some more, I really like them! Though I have enough eyeliner for an entire country at this point, lol!
VV, how long is “long” for the waterline? I’m trying to figure out what “good” staying power is for this area. I don’t line the waterline all the time, but when I do, I use MAC’s Kohls, which I do have to reapply every couple of hours. How do the Stila Kajal compare on this?
Hi SB_Sweetie,
On me they lasted longer than MAC Kohl. Probably about 3-4 hours. MAC Kohl’s do not last at all on me.
These look great, but I think I prefer GOSH eyeliners, based on your description. The GOSH liners have excellent staying power, and they have a huge range of colours.
Maybe I’ll try these. I do have good luck with Urban Decay 24/7 on and off the waterline and the new covergirl one-liquiline blast is actually really nice too.
I love eye liner. I never leave the house without it. These seem to be very nice. This is another thing I have many brands of. I hate when you have to really work hard to get any color on your lid. I’ll keep this brand in mind when they have a sale.
These are incredibly soft, but do not last on me. I prefer the new smudge liners they came out with, they last so long!
Hi VV, does this smudge easily? (:
i really like how you are putting where to find the items and for how much at the bottom. really helps. thanks!
