NYX Cosmetics has a hot little palette out called Smokey Eyes. It’s packed with ten beautiful eyeshadows – all you need to come up with a brown, grey or black smoked out look.
What I love about this palette are the choices. You can go for a warmer look with the brown, taupe and apricot shadows, or do a cool one with the silver, grey, black and vanilla. So many choices!
All the NYX shadows I have swatched have been really nice, and these are no exception. The color payoff is really great and they apply very easily. There is no chalkiness or grittiness. For a relatively inexpensive brand, their stuff is very nice quality.
Another thing I LOVE about this, is the vanilla and apricot highlight colors are actually not over the top frosty. It really bugs me when I get a large palette and there is no subtle highlight color (cough, Kat Von D, cough) because that means I have to carry around another extra shadow for that purpose. In case you wondered the highlight color I use almost every single day is MAC Vanilla. I do not like major frost or white on my brow-bone it’s too *much*, for daytime especially.
I think there is a look in here for just about everyone.
There are no names for these colors (as far as I know) so that’s one thing that’s a little annoying, when trying to write about them at least.
Swatches of the top shadows, L to R (NC 20 skin)
Subtle apricot, medium taupe, medium warm brown, medium chocolate brown, medium grey charcoal
Swatches of the bottom shadows, L to R (NC 20 skin)
Black with silvery shimmer, dark chocolate brown, pale silvery/taupe, silver, silvery vanilla
The price of this palette is only $9.75, which I think is pretty good for ten eyeshadows!
