Hello!
As you know tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! Big whoop, huh? No, it’s kinda fun but also so much pressure to have this “perfect” Hallmark day. Personally I’m not doing anything fancy. 🙂
But that’s no reason you can’t have a little fun with your manicure! I was playing around with some easy to do manicure ideas (if you have the right colors, etc.) and thought I would post them. It’s nothing elaborate, no extravagant Konad designs from me. This is about as “artsy” as I can get with my nails, sorry! Some of these are fairly traditional looking and some others have more of an “edge” to them. Enjoy!
Orly OMG with Nicole by OPI Love Your Life
For this I used a really “sweet” pink with Nicole’s glittery polish with pink heart shapes. I have to say, these are a nightmare to work with. I had to fish the hearts out with a toothpick because they wouldn’t come out on their own. And then I placed them where I wanted them on the nail. Definitely a PITA, but ok for a one time thing I guess.

Here we have a nice classic red with Nicole’s hearts.
Orly Blushing Bud with Nicole by OPI Have A Heart
Here is another classic looking bubblegum pink with the red Nicole hearts polish.
Orly Wild Wisteria with Nicole by OPI Let’s Get Star-ted
So here’s a twist on a Vday mani. I thought it would be fun to do a dark purple with this Nicole star polish I found, and I love the way it came out! This was the same thing though with application, I had to fish the stars out with a toothpick and place them.
CND Blackjack with Nicole by OPI Love Your Life
And finally I had to do a straight black creme with the hearts on top. Isn’t it cute?
I found all these Nicole by OPI glitters/hearts/stars at Walmart and they were $7.00 each. I think the Have A Heart and Let’s Get Star-ted ones are Walmart exclusives, but am not positive.
Hope you have a great day tomorrow, no matter what you are doing! 🙂

Hi MightyLambchop,
Argh! Have you tried Walmart or Target?
Oooohh! I LOVE the stars. I have Wild Wisteria, I may have to hunt down Let’s Get it Star-ted!

Hi Amber,
Yeah my fav is Let’s Get Star-ted 🙂
For my wedding in April, I am going to be using OPI Black Onyx topped with Maybelline Clearly in Love (Silver holo hearts in clear polish with holo glitter). I agree that the application is a total PITA but the finished look is sooo cool that it’s worth it for a special occasion. If I hadn’t been able to track down the Maybelline polish, I would gone for the pink Nicole.
Hi NIcki,
Oooh that sounds lovely congrats on the upcoming wedding!
Omg, that stars one is sooo cute. I never managed to find a bottle of that up here in Canada despite the fact that it was advertised in the flyer. =(

Hi Perry,
See Glockoma’s reply above!
The stars are my favourite – very celestial.
(Perry, I’m in Canada, too, and I’ve seen these sold at Rexall or Shopper’s Drug Mart, I believe. Some locations have them, others don’t. The stars are a lot harder to find, but keep looking – they’re definitely around.)

Hi Glockoma,
Yeah I love the stars also, they seem to “go” with more.
happy valentine, kelly! These manicures are really beautiful!
haha, yesterday late at night i did my valentine manicure: i didn’t want to have a red or pink underground so i went for a black creme, added hearts such as in the nicole polishes and topped it with inm northern lights silver and ended up really liking it. and now i see your black-heart mani in this post 😀 must have been telepathy…kind of 🙂
Hi black diamond,
It must have been! I don’t really do cute either so the black or purple ones suit me better.
I like the Orly OMG and the Wisteria. The hearts are cute but I don’t really do “cute”. Maybe I should look for the stars…
Hi Jen,
Totally understand, I feel the same 🙂
So beautiful, especially Wisteria and Blackjack!
Hi Sanna,
Yep I agree!
The heart polishes and the star polish is available through aveyou.com and their store on Amazon if the drugstores near you are sold out. I just picked up all three yesterday! <3!
Hi firepail,
Cool thanks for letting us know!
Very cute! Love them all.
Hi Cheri,
Thanks!
These are great. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, kinda a poor excuse for a holiday. Do we need a day to celebrate hate too? Haha, just kidding.

Hi Kelly:
Yes, they are very cute and fun ideas for a manicure on v-day. I bet any guy really would be amazed at how you can place a tiny red heart or a silver/red star on your nails for a V-day party of “just for fun.” Your nails always look amazing and beautiful.
Nevertheless, what did you get for Valentine’s Day is the question I want to ask? If it’s not too personal. what gift was the best out of all of them? LOL
((((Love Kelly))))
Mc Huggs 🙂
I really love the pink hearts with the black nails! Although I dont have that on today, I will have to remember it for future nails 🙂
Cute ideas!! Yay! My fave is with that red—gorgeous! Very Valentines without being overly “sweet” but all are super cute, thanks for the ideas!

ohh i love the black with the hearts and the purple with the stars
the stars are really cute!!
Love the stars. I actually just got an OPI polish which seems like a dupe of the Nicole heart glitter. It’s so cute!

I like the black & dark purple combos the best. This seems like so much work, though! Fishing glitter out with a toothpick?! I don’t think I have the patience for that. What about using a glitter polish on top and adding some heart jewels? Would that be easier (I’ve never worked with nail art jewels)? Thanks for all the effort on these swatches! I can’t imagine the time it must have taken. Which one did you end up wearing for V-day?
Hi SB_Sweetie,
I actually had nothing on my nails yesterday! 🙂
