Good Wednesday morning everyone!
Today I’ve got some more of the new China Glaze Glitters to show you. These are all super glittery and holographic, hope you like ’em!
Nova is a silver holo glitter. This was three coats.
Medallion is a cool gold holo glitter. This was three coats.
Cleopatra is a warm gold holo glitter. This was three coats.
Atlantis is a watery blue polish with silver and holo glitter. This one was a huge problem for me! I needed FOUR coats here, and it’s still watery and uneven. I saw some other people’s swatches, and theirs looks much more opaque. I’m not sure if I got an extra runny one or they used more coats than me, but this didn’t work very well, and I SO wanted it to!
Whaddya think?

Hmm, Atlantis looked pretty in the bottle at Sally’s, but on the nail it kind of reminds me of a Halls’ blue coughdrop color. I wonder if your bottle was just extra watery too.
These are so pretty. Nova, Medallion and Atlantis are definitely on my wishlist. But I think there should be a special base coat to male the removal of glitter polishes easier, it’s such a pain.
Such a shame that your bottle of Atlantis is sucky. Maybe it’ll thicken and you’ll be able to apply it without getting frustrated in a year or so 😛

Hmm, I had better luck with Atlantis than you did (took me three coats). You can always layer it over Watermelon Rind, which is it’s color match, to get opacity while maintaining the fabulous color .

Hmm, sucks you got a lame bottle of Atlantis – mine only took 3 coats if I remember for full opacity & coverage.

I think that layering Atlantis over Adore should do the job 🙂 At least that is what I intend to do with it once I get my hands on it.
I had problems with Atlantis too. So sad. I’m going to try it over For Audrey and see if that might help…
Do you have any good tips for removing glitter polish? I’m having such a hard time with it lately that I’m leaning towards not using them, and I love glitter polishes so much!
Hi yourhermione,
I think I definitely got a bum bottle because so many other people had no issues!
As far as glitter removal, it’s a pain in the arse! What I use is OPI Expert Touch remover. I put some on a cotton ball and leave it on my nail for like 30 seconds. Then I press down hard and wipe away towards my nail tip once. Then I use a different cotton ball for the remaining glitter. If you use the same cotton ball over and over on the nail, you’ll just spread glitter around.
I’m surprised at your swatches! Nova and Medallion were MUCH thicker- 2 coats had my nail opaque! Also, Atlantis was a 2-coater for me!
Hi Jackie,
I know I saw that these were all thicker on other people also! Maybe they put it on way thicker. Totally bizarro.
Wow, sorry you had a problem with Atlantis. It is fabulous! Outdoors and not in direct sunlight I could see my nail line slightly because the base is a little sheer, but otherwise in the light it is just SO sparkly! I also got opaque coverage with Nova, Medallion, and Cleopatra—but I go over it and dab in the glitter to make sure! I love it opaque.
I would try Atlantis over CG Watermelon Rind, since they are very close in color. I’m going to try that….

My bottle of Atlantis was like that – I think the Sally’s SA was on to something when she said the best way to wear it was layered over Metallic Muse.
Cleopatra was pretty nearly opaque for me in 2 coats though, as was Stellar. There does seem to be quite a bit of variation in quality of these glitters, my bottle of Meteor Strike was kinda thick & gloppy & might need thinning.
I tried out “Atlantis” with “Matte Magic” and I can’t get over how cute it looks!

I’ll try to get a better pic soon 🙂
Hi BlackPearl890,
That does look cool. Yours is so much more opaque than mine though!
I love these glitter polishes. With all the chunks, and some with chunks of uneven sizes, I found myself dabbing them on, trying to move the goodies so they are more evenly placed. Do any of you have a special technique for applying them?
Hi AB,
I don’t really have any technique other than letting them dry for a minute or two between coats so the glitter gets a chance to stick where I put it and not “glob” out to the tip when I spread on a second coat. 🙂
they are kinda ehhhh to me. I wished they were more opaque.
I love these colors on you. It’s too bad, though, about Atlantis for you. Mine went on in three thick coats after I kept it (and all of my other nail colors) in the refrigerator, so that might be a way to bulk up a watery bottle.

yummy!
I fished out an old sheer teal green NYX polish I had & did two sheer layers followed by two sheer layers of Atlantis + SV. Much, much better effect, it looks opaque, & the holo/glitter mix really stands out & I’m not mucking around trying to get 4 layers of glitter to dry. I’m definitely going back to pick up Metallic Muse or something similar (or maybe more green toned, like Cherish) to use in the future. I found the same thing helps with Sour Apple, its very pretty but very sheer (more than Atlantis) & while it looks good on its own, it looks way better layered over a tonal opaque.
I bought the whole collection. I haven’t worn any yet. They are all amazing. I hope my Atlantis isn’t runny.
