Friday it’s Friday!! Shouldn’t there be some silly happy song about Friday? It’s Friday, I’m in love maybe? I dunno.
Anyhoo, I’ve got some high end polish to show you today from Dolce & Gabbana. They are fairly new to the nail polish arena, from what I am aware of.
Before you see them though, a word about the brushes…they are kinda strange. They look like tiny little mops! The ends are rounded and kinda go outwards like an A-line skirt. Ok, this only makes sense if you see what I’m talking about.
See what I mean? And this doesn’t really even show just how rounded and moppish the end is. And not only that, it’s thick also! So because the brush is like this, it seems to deposit a ton of polish on the brush so you gotta be really careful of getting the excess off or you’ll wind up with gobs of polish on your nail. Also the “mop” is fairly wide so you have to be careful about placement on the nail as well or it will wind up all over your fingers (which you can always clean up afterwards).
All this weirdness does make it a little annoying to apply, and to be quite frank if I wasn’t madly in love with one of these colors below, I wouldn’t even want to wear this polish until they fixed the brush issue! Peep ’em.
Desert is a shimmery yellow gold with a lot of silver shimmer. This is most definitely a warm gold color, and it’s really pretty, but doesn’t suit my skin tone very well. The formula was really nice and opaque and creamy. This was two coats.
Stromboli is a blackened olive green with serious crazy flaky gold and green glitter. And it’s got A LOT of glitter making it super gorgeous, and just stunning. I know some of you will ask how it compares to China Glaze Wagon Trail or Chanel Ore de Russie, and while it is in the same category as both (olive or khaki green) it’s very different. It’s lighter and WAY more glitter packed than Wagon Trail and much darker and less gold than Ore de Russie. This is the MUST have of all their polishes as far as I’m concerned. This was two coats.
I mean REALLY?!?! This is insane.
When you’re buying anything with the name Dolce & Gabanna on it, you know it’s gonna cost you, and these puppies are $20.00 each. BUT that is cheaper than Chanel! You can find these on Saks Fifth Avenue’s website if you are so inclined.
