Zoya Ultra Glitter Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Haaaaaaaaayyyyy party people!

I feel the need to tell you that I am really not as chipper as I sound in the morning. In fact, I am SOOOO not a morning person, though I get up at 5:10 am for work every day. I am much more chipper when I write, than in person icon wink Zoya Ultra Glitter Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Today I’ve got Zoya’s new Ultra Glitter collection. These are SUPER glittery and blingtastic! BUT not as blingtastic as they would have been if the sun had been out when I took the pics, sorry!

The formula on these is on the thick side because they are so jam packed with glitter. When applying wait a few minutes in-between coats otherwise the polish tends to glob on the tip of the nail. They do have that “chunky” texture that a lot of glitters have also, but that mostly goes away after a nice top coat. Peep ‘em out!

Luna

Luna is a pale dusty grey-ish polish with silver glitter. This one is my favorite, I love it. It totally says “winter” and “snow” to me, even though I never, ever see snow in real life. This was three coats.

OPI Holiday Wishes for Winter 2009 Swatches and Review – Part I

Hey there!

Today I will be showing you the first half of my swatches of OPI’s new winter 2009 collection called Holiday Wishes.

Holiday Wishes is comprised of a lot of reds, and then quite a few interesting colors that I wouldn’t normally think OPI would do. The finishes are super cool and different on a lot of them.

As far as formula, these are all on the thicker side, but also nice and opaque in just two coats for most. Let’s take a peek!

OPI Ginger Bells OPI Holiday Wishes for Winter 2009 Swatches and Review Part I
Ginger Bells!

Ginger Bells! is a, um, ginger colored creme? Don’t know how else to describe it! Kind of gingerbread cookie-esque. I actually really didn’t like it until the third coat, and I still kind of think it’s just meh. Maybe it just doesn’t look good on me. As I said, this was three coats.

MAC Nail Trend F/W ’09 by Jin Soon

Half of our short week is almost over, can you just deal with a couple more days of work until freedom?

As you may have heard MAC has released a new collection of six nail polishes for fall/winter 2009. This collection was created by Jin Soon, who is a professional nail artist and founder/owner of Jin Soon Natural Hand and Foot Spas in New York. To be honest, I had never heard of her before this collection came out. I’m not really one to fall all over myself following every single nail technician and fashion trend around. I like what I like, doesn’t matter what “fashion” folks tell me to like. Just keepin’ it real.

This collection definitely says “fall” to me, the (mostly) creme colors are dark, vampy and some a bit unusual. I am totally in love with a few of them and just kinda *meh* on a few others.

The formula on these is pretty decent. They are thin and all applied very evenly and needed three coats. Not sure about wear compared to MAC polishes of ‘yore (which tend to be chippy) because I haven’t yet worn any of these for any length of time. Peep ‘em!

MAC Cool Reserve MAC Nail Trend F/W 09 by Jin Soon
Cool Reserve

Cool Reserve is a very pale grey/lavender creme. It reminds me of a lighter version of Sephora’s Metro Chic. I like this, but feel like it’s already been done before. This was three coats.

Zoya MatteVelvet Winter 2009

It’s hump day and I am BRIMMING with excitement over what I have to show you today! I was so freakin excited about these that the second I got home yesterday and saw them, I ripped into the package and immediately started swatching them. Ok, I did it after I fed my dog and cats, but still!

Zoya introduces us to three new fabulous MatteVelvet limited edition colors for winter 2009. These are no ordinary matte’s, these my friends, are the creme of the crop, the coup du grace, the topping on the ice cream sundae, you get my drift.

You have seen a lot of matte polishes lately, but you haven’t seen mattes like these yet. The colors are gorgeous and would be no matter what finish they were. But the fact that they are matte makes them that much more interesting.

The formula is fantastic. They are totally opaque in two coats and dry quick but not the second you lay down the polish. Have a peek!

Harlow is a rose colored pink matte with shimmer. Totally beautiful, this was the one I expected to like the least but wound up liking 2nd best!
