Orly Holiday Soiree Orly Holiday Soiree Collection for Holiday 2011 Swatches & Review

Ready for some more holiday goodies?

Orly Holiday Soiree brings in the season with an icy white, bright red jelly, some awesome metallics and a fun glittery black. There is one missing here which I passed on. It’s a deep, basically black blue creme called Le Chateau.

NARS Night Breed vs. Orly Goth vs. Nubar Knight’s Armor

Night Breed vs Goth vs Knights Armor NARS Night Breed vs. Orly Goth vs. Nubar Knights Armor

Welcome to another edition of vs.!

The face off today features three similar colors. All are black with silver glitter, but how closely do they really compare?

The Heavyweight: NARS Night Breed is the newest of the three colors and the most expensive and possibly coveted.
The Middleweight: Nubar Knight’s Armor is from spring of 2010 and not too expensive but not super cheap either.
The Lightweight: Orly Goth is the oldest of the three. She’s also the least expensive and the most easily found.

In the bottles they look pretty similar. All are black with heavy silver glitter. You can tell from looking at the bottles that Night Breed and Knight’s Armor look like they have heavier more prolific glitter than Goth. In Goth you see a lot of the silver kind of sits there not looking very well dispersed.

Orly Precious Collection for Spring 2011 Swatches, Photos & Review

Orly Precious for spring 2011 is a collection based on “lush fabrics, rare stones and extravagant finishes” from all across the globe. “Orly celebrates the refined glamor of porcelain, the vibrant sheen of silk, and the lush sparkle of priceless gems”.

I like the idea behind this collection, I think it’s a great concept and they pulled it off (sort of).

  • Pure Porcelain - Beige creme
  • Gilded Coral – Coral gold shimmer
  • Fancy Fuchsia – Pink creme
  • Ancient Jade – Green creme
  • Sapphire Silk – Deep blue teal
  • Royal Velvet – Purple blue shimmer

Pure Porcelain

Pure Porcelain is a nude/beige/white creme color. I wouldn’t have thought of porcelain when looking at this initially but since it’s named that, I can definitely see the correlation. What I liked about this one was that it was very even and thick, but not hard to work with. After two coats it was very opaque. It would make a good color for a conservative work place or especially those with darker skin tones.

Orly ‘Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches & Review

Orly Bottles copy Orly Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches & Review

Holiday 2010? What?? It does seem a little early to be talking about this in mid-August, but what the hell. It’s not like we haven’t been having winter temperatures in the Bay Area anyway icon smile Orly Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches & Review

Orly’s new collection for holiday is called ‘Tis The Season and it’s made up of six new colors from shimmers to cremes.

The formula on these is really great. I didn’t have any issues with any of them at all, yay! A word about shimmer (glitter) removal. It’s a PITA! It’s not hard to get off the nail or anything, but the tiny shimmer particles get allllll over your fingers, so be prepared for some clean up!
