Holiday 2010? What?? It does seem a little early to be talking about this in mid-August, but what the hell. It’s not like we haven’t been having winter temperatures in the Bay Area anyway

Orly’s new collection for holiday is called ‘Tis The Season and it’s made up of six new colors from shimmers to cremes.

The formula on these is really great. I didn’t have any issues with any of them at all, yay! A word about shimmer (glitter) removal. It’s a PITA! It’s not hard to get off the nail or anything, but the tiny shimmer particles get allllll over your fingers, so be prepared for some clean up!

Orly Cosmic FX is a much anticipated collection for fall 2010. In fact I think it’s one of the most anticipated nail collections in a long time.

Cosmic FX is a limited edition collection featuring six new shimmery duochrome colors. According to Orly “the innovation infuses natural rock minerals, crystals, and glass to give nails a special optical effect with extreme luster, rich pearlescence, and a smooth, sparkling spectrum of concentrated color. The MineralFX technology includes a special mica that allows for a clearer, vibrantly bright lustrous shimmer. Crystals allow for a mullti-dimensional color transformation. Glass particles carefully controlled in shape and size create a luminous phenomenon. This combination infused with the Silica and specific colors selected create this exclusive technology that gives nails a unique optical effect that’s magnifies as the lighting source intensifies or viewing angle changes”.

I don’t normally quote directly from press releases, but in the case of these I find it pretty interesting what all went into creating these effects.

The colors include:

• Lunar Eclipse: Blue with pink purple FX
• Galaxy Girl: Blue with blue green FX
• It’s Not Rocket Science: Green with gold blue FX
• Space Cadet: Green with purple gold FX
• Halleys Comet: Turquoise with green yellow FX
• Out Of This World: Purple with pink silver FX

The formula on these was really good, as most Orly’s are. All but one of these did need three coats in my experience. I prefer my colors to be as saturated as possible, so three is pretty standard for me anyway.

Can I just say I love the black tops? I love Orly bottles in general I think they are very satisfying in my hand. Heavy and sturdy. Love the rubberized grip caps also. Don’t change that Orly!

It’s Not Rocket Science

It’s Not Rocket Science is a vivid green with a heavy yellow flash. You can see blue in the bottle, but it’s not as obvious on the nail to my eye. I love this baby, it’s the first one that caught my eye in the press release. This was three coats.

Morning!

Orly has a new collection for spring 2010 out called Foil FX. This collection is three new colors, and I have two of them to show you.

Now these are not your average metallic colors, these look like you have wrapped your nails with colored foil strips. They are really awesome. In fact one of my favorite gold colors is butter LONDON’s The Full Monty, which is a great foil lacquer. These are similar to the effect that Minx gives.

The application is really excellent on these. There were absolutely NO streaks and you could almost get away with one coat each, but I used two for good luck.

Shine

Shine is a silver foil that has yellow shimmer in it. This is really fabulous, probably now one of my favorite silvers!

Hidey ho, it’s Thursday!

Orly has a new spring collection out for 2010 called Sweet. This collection is an homage to days gone by, reminiscent of Jackie O’s pillbox hats. Each of these polishes come with a mini lip gloss in a matching color and flavor.

These colors are creme pastels, but they are not the chalky kind. The formula on these vary a bit. One was thick and streaky but the rest were pretty nice.

I know some of you are sick of pastel colors, but I happen to love them. These make me want spring here ASAP! Check them out!

Lemonade

Lemonade is a cool lemon yellow. This reminds me of my brother’s old 1969 Camero. The color was the original yellow from back in the day and this is very similar. This was the problem child though in terms of application. It was thick and streaky and a bit hard to get even. I wish I knew why all yellows were like this! I love that it’s a cool yellow, because I can’t do the warm ones. This was three coats.

Afternoon ya’ll!

Orly has a new collection for spring 2010 called Bloom, and I have a few of the colors for you today.

The formula is fantastic on all these. Creamy, opaque, smooth and just two coats on all. Check them out below.

Blushing Bud

Blushing Bud is a bright, cool pink creme. It’s super duper pretty with my skin, and I actually really like it. Makes me JONES for spring in a big way!
