OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part II

As promised, here is Part II of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. These are the colors I feel are more safe and more easily dupable to others we’ve seen before. All of these in theory are nice colors and they mostly all looked good on me, however they were all a little plain and conservative for my tastes. It’s funny because most of these colors seemed like summer colors to me rather than fall.

The formula was perfect on all of these. All but one required only two coats and like I’ve said before, that’s always a plus! Check ‘em out.

OPI Pink Flamenco OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part II
Pink Flamenco

Pink Flamenco is my favorite out of these six. It’s a cool, bright pink creme. I am loving this color right now as a pedi and it’s very summery and pretty.

OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part I

Happy Monday peeps, hope your week has started off well! Today I have your first look at full swatches of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. There are 12 polishes in this collection and they are all cremes. Well ok that’s not entirely true, three of them (the best three in my opinion) have a very interesting and subtle shimmer but we’ll discuss those below.

I’m feeling like at least 50-70% of these are pretty basic colors that we have seen before. They’re mostly pretty safe and I think there are too many pinks and red/oranges thrown in here. I don’t know, it just seems as though pink and red have been done to death and can’t we do something more progressive and interesting? But having said that, there are some that I really liked a lot and a few that I LOVED. The formula on these was pretty spot on. They were thick, opaque, creamy and smooth and almost every single one was perfect in just two coats. Definitely a plus!

This is part I of this post and I’m showing the six that were my favs and I think will be the fan favorites as well. Enjoy!

OPI Pampelona Purple OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part I
Pamplona Purple

Pamplona Purple is a really flattering medium grape creme. This is what I would classify as a pinkish purple. This may not be the most earth shattering color, but I feel it’s very wearable and a great fall color (and summer for that matter) and I definitely will be wearing it. This was two coats.

Illamasqua Nail Polish AND giveaway!!

My love affair with Illamasqua continues…

Illamasqua Wayward Illamasqua Nail Polish AND giveaway!!
Wayward

Isn’t this yellow most decadent? It’s bright, sunny, warm and cheery! This definitely leans towards orange, but not too much. And amazingly it was not that much of a bitch to apply! This was three succulent coats.

Illamasqua Nail Polish for Summer 2009

Illamasqua released two new colors for summer and I got ‘em both for ya! As per usual, they rock. I haven’t come across one yet that I didn’t love from this company, I swear! I am practically peeing my pants thinking about what they could possibly have in store for us for fall. You KNOW a vampy-ish company like this is gonna have some sick dark colors and I am really excited to see what’s in store!

Illamasqua Muse Illamasqua Nail Polish for Summer 2009
Muse

Muse is a really pretty and uncommon teal blue creme. It’s not the same kind of teal we have seen from Misa and Essie and butter LONDON though. This is darker and has more grey to it. A peacock teal perhaps? I don’t know. I do know I love it (sorry for the messy application on my middle finger) and it only took two coats to apply.

Illamasqua Nail Polish

I am very excited today because I just got some very cool new (to me) nail polishes! The brand is called Illamasqua and they are based in London, England. I feel as though my discovery of them was perfectly timed because I just booked my vacation to London for May! I am super excited because this will be my first trip to Europe! Anyway back to the polish. I have to say that I was amazed that I got these so quickly. I contacted them less than a week ago and I already got them today. I have people sending me stuff from New York (cough RBL, cough Essie) that takes two-three times as long to get here! So here is a bit about the brand.

The idea of Illamasqua was first thought of in Berlin in the 1920′s during the dark club scene. It was developed by professional theater and film make up artists and now takes a lot of inspiration from people in the alternative scene who’s form of self expression may be different from “the norm”. They have a complete line of really fabulous looking makeup comprised of rich bold colors as well as a amazing line of nail polishes. I had the pleasure of swatching three of their colors today. Pics are taken in the sun with no top coat.

Illamasqua Hectic Illamasqua Nail Polish
I know what you’re thinking. You are thinking this looks just like Rescue Beauty Lounge No More War and you are sort of right. Hectic isn’t quite as dark and not as “olive-y” green as No More War. I want to say No More War has more orange or yellow to it and this one is slightly cooler. I have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s hard to explain but they ARE different, especially to those of us who are olive green fanatics. This one is just as lovely to me, it’s one of my very favorite colors for nail polish because it’s SO unique and edgy and yet still so chic. Hectic isn’t quite as opaque as No More War so this was three coats here.
