Kat Von D High Voltage Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Kat Von D Nail Polish Kat Von D High Voltage Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Did you know that Kat Von D now has nail lacquer out? Yep! It’s called High Voltage Nail Lacquer.

So far there are just four shades in smallish bottles (0.25 oz). but they are shimmery and fun! The shades are Mad Max (blue), No Regrets (fuchsia), Wonderchild (purple) and Sparklehorse (yellow). I don’t have Sparklehorse A. because it wasn’t available the same time as the other three and B. I am pretty sure that warm yellow will not look good on me anyway.

Each of her bottle caps are decorated with her black and silver rose tattoo design with her initials on top. They have a slight grip to them which makes holding them nice.

The one gripe I have is the wand is extremely short so basically you open it and have the brush immediately. Kind of strange but not really hard to paint with.

Some more info about them from Sephora:

These vibrant, vivacious nail lacquers were inspired by the neon trends of the ’80s. The high-quality, richly pigmented formulas will catch all eyes in the room with their bright, ultra-reflective shine. Infused with tiny particles of shattered glass, these are the boldest and shiniest polishes you’ll find. The extended wear, anti-chip formula is water and detergent resistant and provides UV protection to ensure the color’s fidelity.

These lacquers are formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP.

Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette Mi Vida Loca for Spring 2012 Swatches & Review

Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Palette Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette Mi Vida Loca for Spring 2012 Swatches & Review

Kat Von D has a brand new True Romance Eyeshadow Palette out called Mi Vida Loca available only at Sephora.

As you know, I have a sick obsession with owning these palettes but this one really called to me anyway because it’s filled with fun, bright colors! And no creme shadows! No black! And a cool mini Autograph Eyeliner Pencil in Wonderchild.

There are a couple things I don’t love about this palette though. It comes in her newer metal case that has a spring-lock mechanism. What I don’t like about it is that it pops fully open so you cannot get the mirror part inside to tilt upwards. It lays completely flat and there is nothing you can do about it. I preferred her plastic palettes to these ones, but it’s not a big enough issue that it would stop me from buying them. Just annoying.

Kat Von D True Romance Saint, Sinner & Poetica Palettes Swatches, Photos & Review

Kat Von D True Romance Palettes Kat Von D True Romance Saint, Sinner & Poetica Palettes Swatches, Photos & Review

Kat Von D has three new True Romance palettes out called Saint, Sinner and Poetica.

As you might know, I have a mild “thing” about having to own all of these palettes and in fact now I do with the exception of two (Ludwig and True Love). Yes, even though there are repeated colors in them.

The new palettes are slightly smaller and in a much different kind of palette. These are metal with rounded corners and a spring-hinge which opens them up completely flat. The older ones had a plastic rubbery feel with square edges and they opened and stayed open to the angle you wanted, which is handy considering there is a mirror inside.

All her palettes have great design on the front and these are no exception. They are all embossed with a different pattern and look really cool. They do feel a bit flimsy and cheap to me though and I don’t like how when you open them the spring opens the entire lid out so you can’t really look into the mirror without using your hands to hold it open.

Another good thing about these is that none of them have those cream shadows in them, which tended to be fairly crappy and dried out quickly. She also got rid of the useless little brushes and included a black Autograph Pencil liner instead. Good move!

Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick Swatches, Photos & Review

Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick Kat Von D Foiled Love Lipstick Swatches, Photos & Review

Kat Von D has some new lipsticks out called Foiled Love Lipstick.

They come in five new colors

  • Beranice – Metallic poppy red
  • Forever & Never – Metallic golden peach
  • F.T.W. – Metallic cranberry rose
  • Oh My Goth – Metallic deep amethyst with iridescent micro glitter
  • Valentine – Metallic hot pink with iridescent micro glitter

These “foiled” lipsticks are really metallics which claim to be highly pigmented and give you a look as though your lips have been wrapped in foil.

My experience with two of them didn’t live up to those claims…

Favorites: MAC Red Lipstick Ideas for Spring & Summer

Summer is a great time to bust out a super bright or even deep red lipstick, so today I have a plethora of my favorite red lipsticks which are all by MAC, except one.

When I was in my late teens/early 20′s I pretty much only wore red lipstick. It was my signature look LONG before Gwen Stefani was popular icon smile Favorites: MAC Red Lipstick Ideas for Spring & Summer . Too bad this was before I discovered MAC in 1991 though because the red lipsticks I wore were dry, chalky and mostly came in a fat, cheap pencil form. Ick.

The red lipsticks I gravitate towards and that look best on me are cooler, blue-toned ones. There are a few matte formulas in here which I really adore, but they are a lot more drying than I prefer generally.

I hear alllll the time people saying “I wish I could wear red lipstick” and you CAN. There is definitely a red out there for everyone, you just have to find out if your perfect one is warmer, cooler, brighter or deeper for your skin tone.

Oh and the other great thing about red lipstick is while it is higher maintenance than most other colors, it makes your teeth look much whiter!

One thing to note, I did use a lip liner for these photos since red really requires perfection. Strangely enough I only have one MAC red lip liner, which is Burgundy which I used with the darker reds here. The other lip liner I used is Revlon Redwood, which is a really old, but creamy bright red liner.

MAC Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo (matte, permanent) is a very bright blue-based red with a matte finish. This is an amazing color and probably the brightest red I own. I think I have owned this tube for about 12 years since it’s in the old straight lipstick tubes MAC used to have!
