Illamasqua Toxic Nature Nail Varnish for SS11 Swatches, Photos & Review

Illamasqua Toxic Nature Illamasqua Toxic Nature Nail Varnish for SS11 Swatches, Photos & Review

Welcome to Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature Nail Varnish collection for spring/summer 2011.

It might be a concept that seems odd to people or creeps them out, but I for one am a huge fan!

“Unpredictable. Uncharted. Unnatural. Distorted by mankind, the natural world is fighting back. In retaliation against the genetically modified society that plunders it, the landscape has issued forth a torrent of hybrid shades. Corrupted hues glister amongst muted tones – extreme, intoxicating version of their original selves. This is an atomic-botanical environment where survival is key and camouflage by colour is the path to existence.”

What I love about this collection is that it comes with a cool concept, it’s not just  ”Oh here’s another makeup collection with some neat packaging.” It makes it more interesting to me and definitely more memorable.

Illamasqua Toxic Nature for SS11 Official Photos and Information

image002 Illamasqua Toxic Nature for SS11 Official Photos and Information

WOW just got the press release for Illamasqua’s new SS11 collection called Toxic Nature and it looks incredible. I love the photos!

Toxic Nature comes out March 10th online and March 17th at UK counters, but 3 lucky people will win their favorite products from this collection if they add them to their waiting list on their site. They will pick the winners on March 9th.

    Official press release:

Unpredictable, uncharted and unnatural, Illamasqua unleashes Toxic Nature for Spring/Summer 2011, a colour collection born from a visionary concept of nature fighting back against the genetically modified society that plunders it. Illamasqua has created the Toxic Nature collection through a palette of lurid shades, corrupted hues and glistening muted tones that offer intoxicating versions of their original selves.

“Having an artist background highly influenced this collection. The medium of paint when it is in various states [mixed on a palette, on a canvas, the colours mutating when you wash your brushes] inspired the product colours of Toxic Nature. Blends, washes, dabs, drips, daubs and splashes of colour are evident in the imagery of the collection.” Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director.

Like nature itself, it’s not all sweetness and light. Shades of mint, mushroom, plum, orange and rose are distorted with rich textures and pops of acid-infused brightness that command attention and draw you in…

    Products

    Cream Pigment – £17.00

A new matt formula that can either neutralise or dominate. Create the ultimate in textures whether it’s on your face, eyes, or body, bringing a flash of colour to a subtle contour.

“The power of the products in this collection is evident in the intensity of the Cream Pigments – they are intense, raw colour but blend down easily exactly like an artists paint palette.” Alex Box.

    Emerge – Peach    [EU only]

    Bedaub – Mint

    Dab – Lilac

    Hollow – Toffee

Delirium – Rose Taupe  [EU only]

    Mould – Grape

Precision Ink in ‘Glister’ – £17.00

Create looks with attitude with this glistening opalescent nude. It dries within seconds and stays true for hours, so whatever you scrawl on your skin, you know your creation will last until dawn. Continue reading »

Illamasqua Purple Smoke Eye Quad Review by Guest Blogger Helen from Just Nice Things

Helen Just Nice Things Illamasqua Purple Smoke Eye Quad Review by Guest Blogger Helen from Just Nice Things

Hailing from the UK, I am very proud of some of our “home-grown” brands, of which Illamasqua is one. I’ve been interested in the company and its products ever since its birth in 2009, and have been lucky enough to attend various masterclasses, events and product launches. Indeed, I even had one of Illamasqua’s own make-up artists (the fabulous Halimah Haque) do my wedding make-up last year.

At the moment, everyone over here is getting pretty excited about the impending Spring/Summer 2011 collection (Toxic Nature), which will be previewed in the first week of March. It’s always exciting to see what Alex Box is going to come up with next, and from what I’ve heard of the new collection, we aren’t going to be disappointed. But in the meantime, let me show you one of my favourite items from the core collection.

Purple Smoke is an eye quad that I actually purchased at the IMATS expo last month. I love, love, love purples. In fact, show me a beauty blogger who says they don’t love purple, and I’ll show you a fibber. Although I’ll pretty much wear any old shade that takes my mood, I return to these colours more than anything else. More interesting than taupes and browns, and (just about!) subtle enough for work.

Illamasqua Throb Collection Nail Varnish in Load and Throb Swatches & Review

Illamasqua’s Throb collection includes three new nail varnishes, one of which I showed before (Scorn).

Now I’m not skiddish about makeup names, and I like a an edgy collection but I have to say one of the names of the colors goes a little past edgy into just gross. It kind of gives me the willies when I think too much about it.

    • Scorn – Midnight black matte
    • Load – Rich creme
    • Throb – Blood red creme

Illamasqua Scorn Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Illamasqua Scorn2 Illamasqua Scorn Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Illamasqua just came out with a black matte color called Scorn. It’s kind of like “the partner” for their new nail quills.

If you haven’t seen what nail quills are you can check them out here. I like the idea of the nail quills for a VERY theatrical event or maybe for someone so rich they don’t have to lift a hand to do anything. In other words, practical they are not, interesting, yes. icon smile Illamasqua Scorn Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

But back to Scorn. Let’s check it out.
