Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter1 Milani Rockstar Heavy Glitter Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review

Milani has a new, yet seemingly hard to find nail collection called Rockstar Heavy Glitter.

I lucked out finding these at the second CVS I went to (where these are being found most often). They were also on sale, buy one get one 50% off, so score!

The rumor is these aren’t limited edition, they will be part of the core 2011 collection, but I haven’t confirmed that with my Milani contact yet.

These are all glittery “top coats” meant to be opaque in one coat. I did two coats of all to get the most coverage, but you could probably do one thicker coat. The formula is pretty nice; not too thick and not “gloopy” as some thick glitter polishes can be. I thought for sure the finish would be super gritty and chunky feeling because they look that way without a top coat, but they were surprisingly pretty smooth.

Removal isn’t THAT bad, it does tend to leave tiny sugar-sprinkle like glittery bits all over, but you can get them off. The two larger glitter ones (Gold & Jems) are super easy to remove since they have big chunks.

Sally Hansen Special Edition Glitter Nail Polish Swatches and Review

Edit: It has since been discovered that this collection isn’t new (according to a few readers) but old, and possibly from the 90′s! That does explain a lot, LOL. Thanks all!

Dobri ranok (good morning in Ukrainian)!

Sally Hansen released some special edition glitters recently, and one of my readers was nice enough to send them to me! I never would have found these myself because none of the drug stores around me are that great with their Sally Hansen updating.

A word about the formula. It isn’t the best. That’s actually being very generous, it’s pretty awful. Only one of them, Hologem which has a clear base, wasn’t a hot streaky mess. They were very watery, and just plain icky. On two of them the glitter settled to the bottom of the polish so it wasn’t very prominent. These just felt like super cheap rush colors to me somehow. Check them out and judge for yourself.

Hologem is a clear base with silver holographic glitter. This was the only one I didn’t have issues with. This was two coats.

Color Club Wonderland for Holiday 2009 Swatches and Review

Happy Friday!

I cannot believe I am showing you this, but I need to start posting my holiday collections or I’ll never get them all done!

Today I’ve got Color Club’s mini glitter collection called Wonderland. These are your basic Christmasy looking glitters so let’s take a peek, shall we?

Wonderland

Wonderland is silver glitter in clear gloss. To me this would be best used as “icing on the cake” in other words, on top of other colored polishes. This was two coats.

China Glaze Glitters

Morning party people!

Today I’ve got some of China Glaze’s new glitter nail polishes. They are coming out with FIFTY glitters, if you can believe it. Ugh, I fear I will need an entire new storage cart just for my China Glaze at this point! And I have heard that they will also have some other glitters that are exclusive to Sally’s and not even part of the 50!

In general I am not a huge fan of glitters. I like them (some of them) but don’t LOVE them. I feel a wee bit too old to be wearing a lot of them, especially the ones with huge chunks in them, so I tend to stick to polishes with smaller glitter pieces when I wear them. Another issue for me with glitter is that they tend to be chunky, not smooth and that kind of drives me batty. icon smile China Glaze Glitters

The formula on these is thick. You definitely need a good 2 minutes drying time between each coat and you will need three coats for all of these for maximum impact. Most of these have different shaped and sized glitter in them. I didn’t show these with a top coat and you’ll see that some look really chunky. A good thick top coat like Poshe or Seche Vite will help smooth them out though. Enjoy!

Preppy Pink is a pale, very girly pink with lighter colored opalescent glitter. I only used two coats here and really should have used three.
