Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I am just so burned out by the time I get home I just can’t deal with MORE computer work! Today I have Dazzle Dry’s new collection for spring 2009 called Morocco. I will tell you now I know next to nothing about Morocco other than it’s dry, hot and desert like. I picture people on camels with long flowy colored scarves riding across a big sand dune. And that about sums it up. So really, I have no clue where the idea for these colors came from, but I assume they did some research, haha! Keep in mind that Dazzle Dry polish is very dull when you don’t use their top coat and I don’t use top coats in my pics so these are dull looking. They do shine up nicely though, so no worries and they dry SUPER fast, no joke!
Afternoon Delight is a really strange color. This reminds me of something out of the 1960’s for some reason. It’s very bland and somewhat ugly if I dare say so. There are very few colors that I just REALLY don’t like and this, Ladies & Gents, is one of them. The color is a rusted salmon pink/coral. The application was pretty good and it was opaque in two coats. It just does nothing for me and I wonder what in Morocco is this color?
Bedazzled is a pretty color, but just not for me. The color is a pinkish gold that almost looks like copper. The finish is metallic and shimmery. I think this would look really great on tanned or dark skin tones, but not so much on fair skin. It went on really nicely, though I needed three coats.
is a great teal creme but as you probably guessed, not exactly
original. There have been a lot of teal creme’s out lately and I don’t
think this is my favorite one. This leans more towards the green side
of teal rather than blue, though it definitely has a lot of blue in it.
Application was great and opaque in two coats.
Oasis is more my speed. It’s a celedon green with the same metallic shimmer that Bedazzled has. It has a nice pink flash to it also. This too was a wee bit sheer so I used three coats.
A strange thing happened with Sahara as you can see when you compare the pic below with the one above. When I first went out into the sun it wrinkled for like 2 seconds (see pic below) then smoothed out on it’s own! WEIRD! It was pretty hot out so I don’t know if the heat caused it or what. Anyway this was a bitch to apply, same with all yellows, blah, blah, blah. I always say that. Streaky mess. BUT after three coats, all was good. This yellow is a bright sun yellow that leans towards the orange side.
Electrifying is the only name that I don’t “get” with this collection. What does that have to do with Morocco? Who knows. The color is cherry red and it goes on pretty sheer. Even after three coats you can still see my nail edge. This one doesn’t blow my socks off, but it is a good red.
