Good mornin’ to ya! I hope your Monday goes by quick and easy 🙂
I have partnered with Julep Nail Parlor for a little giveaway for you guys!
Background: Julep Nail Parlor is an environmentally aware nail salon chain in Washington, with the flagship salon in Seattle. If you get a mani/pedi there, they send you home with the items that can’t be sterilized, and if you bring them back for use on your next visit, they donate $1.00 to The Nature Conservancy. I think that’s pretty cool!
They also have a whole slew of nail colors available for purchase.
They will be giving away one set of their Holiday Colors (mini bottles), which include the four polishes you see above.
The colors are:
Stefani, Sienna, Cyndi, Molly
Stefani, Sienna, Cyndi, Molly
All four of these colors applied very nicely, and were totally opaque in two coats.
Stefani was my favorite color, it’s a very unusual shade of olive green, kind of with a silvery look, and I love the blue and gold shimmer.
Sienna is a nice, standard cool-gold foil. Perfect for Christmas.
Cyndi is a great blackened red glitter, if not totally unique.
Molly is a nice, classic cool red creme. Nothing groundbreaking color-wise, but still a nice color.
To keep up with Julep Nail Parlor you can also follow them on their Facebook page.
Color Club has a cute little set of nail polish and some fun accompanying accessories for this holiday season called Enchanted Holiday.
The set features four new glitter colors, some nail stickers and nail gems.
Snowflakes is a super sheer white base packed with opalescent micro-glitter. This would make a nice layering color but on it’s own it’s too plain for me. I added some of the festive stickers for more fun. 🙂 This was two coats.
Magic Elf is a bright green foil-like color with a heavy yellow flash. It’s an unexpected green for the holidays and I really like it. I was hoping it would be a bit more opaque though. I used three coats and you can still see visible nail line. Still nice though!
Wish List Red
Wish List Red is a beautiful cherry red with red glitter. Love that the base is very opaque, it makes me like the color a lot more. This was two coats.
Enchanted Holiday is a gold glitter in a clear base. What I love about this is that there is so much glitter that it’s completely (well damn near) opaque in two coats!
This set is available now where ever Color Club is sold!
What do you think abut this set for the holidays?
Ridiculously cute product alert! Tarte’s Ring It In Cheek Stain Set is a great new holiday offer now at Sephora.
This little set includes three different colored cheek sheens in nice little twist-up containers.Oh it also comes with a pretty cool one-size-fits-all (stretchy-band) gold knot cocktail ring. 🙂
These little stains include something called t5, which is an infused botanical formula that is supposed to help pigment colors stay more true and blend into your skin easier.
Flawless, Vivid, Luster
Flawless, Vivid, Luster
All three of these colors applied quite smoothly and easily. The sheerest one was definitely Flawless, which is pretty sheer for my tastes. Vivid and Luster were really nice though and more colorful.
The downside of these is that they did feel slightly sticky on my face. Not that I touch my face all day long, but I could feel “something” there that I didn’t really love the feeling of. The color did last a solid 10 hours though without having to touch it up, so that’s good.
I also like that these are small enough to pop into your bag without taking up much space or weighing a lot.
I like this set a lot and have been really getting into these cheek stains lately. The ring is an added bonus. I would recommend these if you are looking for something that is easy to apply, and with more natural colors.
Would you buy a set like this?
Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Extravagant Holiday 2010 collection includes two beautiful rich red lipsticks covered with gold shimmer!
This is my VERY FIRST EVER experience with Estee Lauder lipsticks, and I really like what I tried.
I am starting to realize that these higher end, super classy brands which I always used to associate with “women of a certain age”, don’t have an age requirement. 🙂
These lipsticks were extremely creamy and moist, and applied very smoothly. They are also infused with Vitamin E.
One thing I always try and note right away is if they have that lipstick smell. You know the one I’m talkin’ about: smells like 1982. They do have a very faint lipstick type scent, but nothing like say L’Oreal (which I still remember form like 20 years ago). Big bonus for that!
Extravagant Red, Extravagant Berry
Extravagant Red is a medium red/orange with super fine red shimmer. While the shimmer looks gold on the actual lipstick, it doesn’t really translate onto the lip very much.
This is a very wearable red for me. Not crazy bright or crazy shimmery. It’s not too orange either, which for my skin tone is a good thing.
Extravagant Berry is a deep and rich berry red with very slight shimmer. The shimmer didn’t show up as much with this one as the Red one.
I also really like this color on me. It’s on the cool side and again extremely wearable and pretty for the holidays.
I am really pleased with both of these lipsticks and colors. I think the formula and feel is really great, but I can’t comment on wear just yet. And another good thing, I didn’t feel like an old lady wearing them, haha!
What do you think about these two reds?
