When is a good time to wear purple? ANYTIME!

Purple is one of my favorite colors to wear on my eyes, nails, lips and clothing so I say there is no “purple” season.

Having said that though I do think some purple lipstick shades fit certain times of years a little better perhaps. Lighter more pinky purples are great for spring & summer whereas really dark vampy ones are great for fall & winter. But really, I wear what I want when I feel like it either way.

Today I am covering my very favorite purple lipsticks from MAC from across the years. One of these is at least 12-15 years old by now (I think it’s my oldest MAC cosmetic)! Sorry but a lot of these have been discontinued at this point, but maybe they’ll bring ‘em back one day.

MAC Blooming Lovely

Blooming Lovely (Discontinued, LE, Amplified Creme) is a pale lavender mauve color that came out with the Give Me Liberty of London collection awhile back. While it is super pale, it works with my skintone pretty well I think since I am so fair.

Summer is a great time to bust out a super bright or even deep red lipstick, so today I have a plethora of my favorite red lipsticks which are all by MAC, except one.

When I was in my late teens/early 20′s I pretty much only wore red lipstick. It was my signature look LONG before Gwen Stefani was popular . Too bad this was before I discovered MAC in 1991 though because the red lipsticks I wore were dry, chalky and mostly came in a fat, cheap pencil form. Ick.

The red lipsticks I gravitate towards and that look best on me are cooler, blue-toned ones. There are a few matte formulas in here which I really adore, but they are a lot more drying than I prefer generally.

I hear alllll the time people saying “I wish I could wear red lipstick” and you CAN. There is definitely a red out there for everyone, you just have to find out if your perfect one is warmer, cooler, brighter or deeper for your skin tone.

Oh and the other great thing about red lipstick is while it is higher maintenance than most other colors, it makes your teeth look much whiter!

One thing to note, I did use a lip liner for these photos since red really requires perfection. Strangely enough I only have one MAC red lip liner, which is Burgundy which I used with the darker reds here. The other lip liner I used is Revlon Redwood, which is a really old, but creamy bright red liner.

MAC Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo (matte, permanent) is a very bright blue-based red with a matte finish. This is an amazing color and probably the brightest red I own. I think I have owned this tube for about 12 years since it’s in the old straight lipstick tubes MAC used to have!

Hello and welcome to my favorite coral and orange lipsticks for spring and summer!

As mentioned before in my bright pink post, most of the lipsticks I own are MAC, so these posts will contain a whole ‘lotta’ MAC. I will note below if these are limited edition but for this post, there is only one that’s LE.

I used to have a serious aversion to anything even slightly hued orange, not sure why but I never liked it until recent years. Now I am really into a lot of these colors for lips and nails and I’m glad I gave them a chance.

Spring and summer is the perfect time to bust out a coral or orange lip, they just go so well with warm weather, so without further ado, let’s do this!

Cut A Caper

Cut A Caper (Lustre and LE) is a kind of sheer peachy coral color, and one of my favorites. It looks more pink/peach on my lips than it does on my hand.

Happy Saturday!

Hope you have fun things planned today. Nice weather in the Bay Area this weekend so I am going to soak up as much of it as I can

Today kicks off the start of a new series I plan on doing which will be all about my top favorite products. I am trying to get out of the rut of only doing reviews but it’s hard because I have SO many to catch up on and only have the weekends! I know you guys liked my top 10 nail posts so this will be a bit like that, but expanded into other areas.

As you might know, I am a huge fan of MAC lipsticks and currently own over 100 of them! I’ve been collecting since the very early 90′s (and have recycled at least 50-75) so I thought I would show you some of my favorite bright pinks by them.

Bright pink has always been a favorite lipstick choice for me and since we are in the middle of spring and summer is right around the corner, what better time than now to bust out a bright pink lip?

MAC Candy Yum-Yum

Candy Yum-Yum (Matte) is the newest of the super bright, almost neon pink lipsticks MAC has out. The second I applied this one it became my favorite lipstick, possibly ever. I love the color so much, it’s perfection on me.
