Illamasqua Pastels Nail Varnish Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches & Review

Yep, it’s Tuesday. My second least favorite day of the week next to Monday. icon wink Illamasqua Pastels Nail Varnish Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches & Review

The much anticipated Pastels from Illamasqua for spring 2010 are here ladies & gents! I have two of the four to show you today.

Can I just say, I was worried about the formula. Like really worried. I thought for sure these were going to be super thick and streaky and hard to apply, like most pastels are. I was SO wrong! I kid you not when I say these applied like any of the most perfect polishes I have ever used, pastel color be damned! Another positive is they were totally opaque in just two coats! Peep ‘em!

Caress

Caress is a pale baby blue color. First off I must say I love this color, it’s one of my favorite kinds of blues. And secondly, I don’t have any other pastel color like it, so it’s unique as well!

Orly Sweet Collection for Spring 2010 Swatches & Review

Hidey ho, it’s Thursday!

Orly has a new spring collection out for 2010 called Sweet. This collection is an homage to days gone by, reminiscent of Jackie O’s pillbox hats. Each of these polishes come with a mini lip gloss in a matching color and flavor.

These colors are creme pastels, but they are not the chalky kind. The formula on these vary a bit. One was thick and streaky but the rest were pretty nice.

I know some of you are sick of pastel colors, but I happen to love them. These make me want spring here ASAP! Check them out!

Lemonade

Lemonade is a cool lemon yellow. This reminds me of my brother’s old 1969 Camero. The color was the original yellow from back in the day and this is very similar. This was the problem child though in terms of application. It was thick and streaky and a bit hard to get even. I wish I knew why all yellows were like this! I love that it’s a cool yellow, because I can’t do the warm ones. This was three coats.

China Glaze Up & Away Spring 2010 Collection Swatches & Review – Part I

Happy Monday morning to you all!

How was your Christmas? Did you get everything your heart desired?

Today I have part I of China Glaze’s Up & Away Collection for spring 2010.

This collection is made up of 12 cream colors that range the gamut from yellow to pink to royal purple.

This first half is made up of lighter pastel colors. I will admit, the formula on some of the lightest ones was a wee bit thick and streaky. It wasn’t anything unmanageable though. I was able to get them even with three even coats, and some patience. The yellow, of course, was the hardest to get even. Check them out!

Lemon Fizz

Lemon Fizz is a bright, cool yellow. I LOVE this because it’s not an orange based yellow, and those never work with my skin tone. This was the problem child of the group, so use a good base coat, and then three even coats of color.

Nubar Pastel Fever – Spring 2009

Yahoo, it’s Friday and the weekend is almost here! Since it’s going to be a nice clear and sunny weekend for us here in the Bay Area, I thought I would show you the new Pastel Fever Spring 2009 collection from Nubar. This is my first trip down Nubar lane and I have mixed feelings about it. As you might know, chalky pastels are notoriously hard to pull off. They tend to be runny and streaky and these were no exception to that “rule”. I had great luck with some of the colors and not such great luck with others. I will not be judging Nubar’s formula by this collection alone though, since I think that I would run into the same issues with any brand that put out pastels. All pics taken in sun with no top coat. I put them in order from my least to most favorite. Enjoy!

Isn’t the package it comes in so cute? I had to take a pic to show you how snuggly they look inside their plastic beds.
