BB Couture Nail Lacquer – The Greens!

Yo!

Ok so I promised you a post about all the BB Couture green lacquers, so here it is.

I have twelve of their green colors and I think that’s all of them (except Tortuga Island). They are all truly different as you will see from the pics. I can’t think of another company that has done so many cool green polishes, and those who love green and haven’t tried their colors yet are seriously missing out! True green fanatics will love these! Oh and International peeps, you CAN get these, just email Kim at Overall Beauty (info below) and she can hook you up!

I have reviewed each of these colors already in the collections they came out with so these aren’t full reviews here. If you want to read the full reviews, you can find them under my “Categories” tab then under “BB Couture”.

Disclaimer: You will notice that some of these were taken well over a year ago when I didn’t know WTF I was doing in terms of taking pics. Please forgive the horrificness of those old pictures, they know not what they look like. icon wink BB Couture Nail Lacquer The Greens! You will also notice my nails are all over the place in terms of length. I try to grow them a little longer from time to time, but then I cannot stand them and hack them off! Generally if they are more than 1/4″ past my fingertip, I cannot deal.

So are you ready to be green with envy? (ok barf, puke)

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color for Spring 2010 Swatches and Review

Hey there people of the world!

Today I’ve got yet another new collection from Sally Hansen, but this time it’s from their Insta-Dri line. I only got 4 of the colors, since the others I saw didn’t appeal to me that much. Not sure how many new ones there are but I’m guessing between 6-8 total.

As you may know these are polishes made to be pretty opaque and dry super quick, and they don’t disappoint in those areas. These were all 2 coats and dried very quickly. My only complaint is that the brushes on these are very thick and flat and can be hard to get used to for some people.

Sorry for the sad state of affairs my cuticles are in here, but I had been swatching for hours at this point, and they were feelin’ the pain!

Lickety-Split Lime

Lickety-Split Lime is a bright lime green creme. This isn’t neon, but it’s extremely bright. I think it actually looked good with my skin tone even with all the yellow in it.

Zoya Reverie Spring 2010 Swatches and Review

Hallo mates!

As you may or may not have heard, Zoya has released their spring collection, hurrah! It’s called Reverie and it’s six really cool colors.

I must admit, when I saw promo pics I wasn’t all that excited about most of these. However after seeing them in person and swatching them, I have totally changed my mind. These aren’t just plain old cremes or colors we have seen before. They are shimmery, metallic, gorgeous iridescent/duo-chromes!

You may be asking, what exactly is a duo-chrome or iridescent? I looked online a ton and in dictionaries in my house, and couldn’t find any true definition for the word “duo-chrome”. In fact almost all instances of it on Google were people describing makeup, so I don’t think its “technically” a word. However, iridescent is the same thing as a duo-chrome and that is a word. Iridescent colors “flash” showing other colors when you move them around in different lighting and angles. They produce a display of rainbow-like colors or can be seen as having an “oil-slick” effect. Hope that makes sense!

I think this probably goes without saying at this point but I will anyway. The formula was fabulous on all of these, and they were all two coats.

Laney

Laney is a silver iridescent metallic that flashes yellow/green, very subtly. This picture doesn’t show the yellow/green, but it is there. There was a tiny bit of streakiness with this color, but nothing to really complain about!

New BB Couture For Men Collection Swatches and Review

Ohayo gozaimasu (good morning in Japanese)!

BB Couture has a new men’s collection, their 2nd one, made up of six new amazing colors. I shall be showing you swatches of those today.

What I love about BB Couture is that they don’t follow the typical pattern most other companies do. They put out collections all year ’round, not just seasonal ones. That means that the colors aren’t necessarily “seasonal” ones either, which is great. I get sick of red, green and silver this time of year! The one thing I wish they would do is announce their new collections via email or whatever, so that I know when they actually come out. Sometimes I visit the website and there are all these new colors on there I never heard about!

The formula on these is fantastic, as BB’s usually are. Peep ‘em!

Ciate Nail Polish Swatches and Review

What’s shakin’ Internet?

I have FINALLY gotten around to swatching some nail polishes I got in a swap from my friend Helen from Helen and Sheenie’s Nice Things in England. She sent these SOOOO long ago, I feel terrible! Oh and I must say she’s new to Twitter also, so if you have a Twitter account, check her out at @HelenNiceThings.

The polishes I have today are from a brand called Ciate from the UK. I have had my eye on these honeys for an eternity, mainly because of the adorable bottles!

You cannot tell me that’s not ridiculously cute!

The formula on these isn’t the best on earth, but certainly not the worst. It is a little thick and sticky, but I didn’t have to do any special tricks to get it applied nicely. They were all opaque in either one or two coats also, which is nice!
