Happy Monday morning!

piCture pOlish Atomic by Samarium’s Swatches is a somewhat complex silvery white glittery sparkly shade.

This shade was created by the lovely Sarah from the blog Samarium’s Swatches, of course. She was inspired by the element Samarium, which is a hard silvery colored metal. When it’s exposed to air it oxidizes into a grey/gold powder, which helps explain the shimmer in the polish. So scientific!

The great thing about this shade is it can be worn on its own or layered over many other shades to create gorgeous effects! Sarah shows you a bunch of layering options on her initial post about the shade here.

The NARS Pierre Hardy Nail Polish collection is new and was inspired by his summer 2013 shoe collection. Yep, he’s a shoe designer! I had no idea who he was until I saw the press release. Oops.

What is super cute about this collection is that the nail polishes come in a mini “shoe box” and as a pair. Inside are two complementary shades and also a dust bag (which his shoes also come with). Cute idea!

There are six pairs in all to choose from.

Hard Candy Crystal Confetti is another new collection from the brand that is just out only at Walmart.

Crystal Confetti features nine new multi-colored, multi-shaped glitters suspended in a colored base.

Let me tell you now, contrary to how the Candy Sprinkles were, these are not at all easy to work with. They’re thick, you get huge clumps of multi-shaped glitter all at once, and just they’re basically a hot mess. These are the kind where you definitely have to place the glitter where you want it because it tends to all wipe off or wipe to the tip of your nail with each coat. Argh!

NARS Disco Inferno is a new limited edition polish in their spring 2013 collection.

Disco Inferno in the bottle looks to be a shimmery duochrome showing silver, lavender, green and blue shades. But does it look as cool on the nail as in the bottle?

Nicole by OPI and Twentieth Century Fox recently collaborated to make the Modern Family collection, based on the hit ABC TV show. A show I’ve been watching since it started in fact!

This collection features fourteen new shades that run the gamut from cremes to glitters, from beige to blurple. All of them are named after characters on the show as well.

For most of these I had to use three coats to get the desired saturation. A couple were two coaters though. Quite a few had some streaking issues, mentioned below.
