SuperStar Nail Polish Swatches

SuperStar Nail Lacquer is a new brand of nail polish that I discovered when I saw really nice swatches on Scrangie’s website. I decided to try them out and get 3 colors that she didn’t post, to give readers a variety of ideas. Overall I thought they were just ok. The formula was pretty nice and the price was ok ($8.50), but the colors just didn’t *wow* me as much as I had hoped. Below are my pics and reviews. All pics taken in the sun with no top coat.

Park Avenue Purple

This is 3 coats of polish here. Very nice color, it’s a purplish pink with a nice opalescent blue overlay. Very shimmery in the sun. I don’t know why this color doesn’t grab me, but it just doesn’t.

Creative Nail Design Fedora – Still Relevant

Fedora is a polish that came out in CND’s Fall 2006 line but I feel is very relevant still today. It’s a gorgeous vampy chocolate brown creme with a reddish hue. Brown is one of *THE* fall 2008 colors and this one definitely hits the trend mark for this year. One thing to note is that I only have on 3 coats in this picture, but I could have used 4 because it is a bit uneven to apply (but worth it). Oh also, I do not have a top coat on either and look how freakin shiny it is!

Sally Hansen Salon – Fall 2008 Swatches

Let me start this post by saying I searched all over Hell’s creation trying to find this collection which supposedly came out in Target, Rite Aid, Long’s etc., in September. Well let me tell you people, after searching about 10-15 drug stores and not finding a single one, I had to resort to eBay. I was highly annoyed because it’s not like the San Francisco Bay Area is some small rural town! Anyhoo, I got 4 of my favorite ones and the pics and reviews are below.

Stormy Blue

I was very prepared to fall madly in love with this color, especially after seeing All Lacquered Up do her swatch. Alas, I was a tad let down. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the color but it doesn’t make me swoon for some reason. The application was really nice, though I did have to use 3 coats. It’s a beautiful silvery blue with a nice metallic-ish shimmer. Maybe it’s my skin tone, I don’t know, but I was expecting more from this color.

OPI Holiday in Toyland Collection

As soon as I saw swatches of OPI’s Holiday in Toyland collection on The Nailphile and All Lacquered Up, I knew I was a goner. I didn’t order them all, I got the five I liked the best judging from their swatches, and I am NOT disappointed! All pics are taken in sunlight with no top coat. Enjoy!

“Sheer” Your Toys!

I love this polish, it’s one of my favorites this season. It’s a really gorgeous lavender/grey shimmer that really isn’t “Sheer” after 3 coats. One of the coolest things about this (which you can’t see in my pics of course) is that it has red sparkles in it! They are subtle but there and it makes it like nothing else I own.

China Glaze Sleigh Ride, Holiday 2008

China Glaze came out with a Holiday 2008 collection called Sleigh Ride which are all VERY glittery Christmas colors. Not sure if these will be sold individually, but right now they are sold as a set on 8ty8beauty for $8.04. Pick ‘em up while you can, they are well worth it! All these pics are taken in sunlight with no top coat.

Tinsel

Talk about bling. This is a super glittery silver polish and the name fits perfectly! I have on 3 coats here. An almost jelly like consistency this one is perfect for New Years. What’s even better is that it was super easy to remove for a glitter!
