Milani Nail Flash Nail Lacquer Collection Swatches & Review

Recently at a local drugstore I saw a new-ish looking nail collection from Milani called Nail Flash. It’s comprised of four glittery, duochrome colors, so I had to check them out!

The formula on all of these is really good. They all covered in two coats and I had zero issues. The duochrome effect is more of a strong glittery flash of various colors rather than a true duochrome.

Flash Light

Flash Light is a bright orange with a strong yellow and pink flash. This is a really pretty and opaque orange though, and I liked it more than I thought I would.

Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition Nail Color Swatches & Review

First things first: I am trying to not purchase or write about companies that test on animals anymore. This is something I have mentioned on Twitter a few times, but many of you might not be aware of it. Sally Hansen is one of those companies that is widely believed to test on animals. However these were bought and swatched before I made this decision so I thought I would show them anyway. I am planning a whole article about this subject soon, so stay tuned!

Waaaaaay back in spring (doesn’t that seem so far away now?) Sally Hansen came out with a new line from their HD Hi-Definition collection. I saw them in stores and decided to pick up a few.

The formula was nice, but too thin in my opinion. I wound up being disappointed that some of them weren’t more opaque. I used three coats for all but one, and some could have even used four (or more!)

I was also a little sad that these looked so amazing and duo-chrome-y in the bottles, but they didn’t translate as nicely onto the nail.

Byte

Byte is a bright fuchsia pink with purple/blue shimmer. Gorgeous pink, I really like this one. This was one of the slightly more opaque ones, but I still needed three coats to get even coverage.

Duri Angels Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review

Duri Bottles1 Duri Angels Collection Fall 2010 Swatches & Review

Duri is introducing us to twelve new shades this fall and winter in a two-part collection called Angels & Demons. Angels features lighter, sweeter colors and Demons features mysterious and deeper colors.

First thing I noticed is Duri’s new bottles, they rock! I love the new bottle shape, and especially the logo which is now etched into the glass, rather than printed on. Very classy I think.

The formula is really pretty nice with all of these. I had only minor streaking with one of them and that was really the only issue. Great coverage on all of these, they were all just two coats.

Sheswai Lacquer Swatches & Review

Sheswai Lacquer copy Sheswai Lacquer Swatches & Review

Have you heard of Sheswai Lacquer? I hadn’t until one of my readers turned me onto them recently.

Sheswai Lacquer is a company that was started by a California manicurist, named Debbie. For years she worked in some of the best salons & spas in Los Angeles, then in 2007 started doing manicures for fashion shows, magazines, film & television and the red carpet. Soon Debbie realized that she wanted to create something of her own, so she created Sheswai Lacquer.

Right now Sheswai has only 7 colors, what they call “the basics”. But here’s what drew me to them immediately. The bottle caps are made from sustainably harvested wood which is grown on family owned farms. That is SO cool! Not only are they responsible, they are very pretty and unlike any other polishes I can think of. Sheswai is also big-three free.

The formula for these was really nice. They were on the thick side, but not sticky or hard to apply. They were very opaque in just two coats.

China Glaze Fight Like A Woman Collection Swatches & Review

Believe it or not, October is fast approaching. October is not just for Halloween, but also is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

China Glaze has a new collection called Fight Like A Woman that was created to bring awareness about breast cancer. They will give a portion of proceeds to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

You may or not may know this, but I hear about breast cancer every single day when I’m at work. I work for a Biotechnology company that makes a widely used breast cancer drug, so it’s definitely not a topic I only think about one month a year. But I do think it’s great when companies try to help out in any way they can by raising awareness.

The formula on these was really totally fabulous, not a problem to report.

Encouragement

Encouragement is a light baby pink with silver shimmer. How can I put this…I LOVE THIS COLOR! Really. I saw the 3 pinks, and I knew they would be pink because that’s the color of breast cancer awareness, and I didn’t expect to totally love any of them. But I do. This reminds me of the dress the good witch Glinda wore in The Wizard Of Oz, all sparkly and pretty. icon smile China Glaze Fight Like A Woman Collection Swatches & Review This was on the more sheer side, but I used three coats and I think it looks great.
