If you haven’t yet heard by now, you have been living under the largest rock on the planet. China Glaze Colours From The Capitol is their latest 12-piece collection for spring, and of course, is a tribute to the upcoming movie The Hunger Games, which is based on a series of best-selling books from Suzanne Collins. The movie comes out in March ( I will be there with bells on!)

Let me say, if you have not read the three books in the series (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay) RUN to the store and get them! I read them about a year ago and aside from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, these are some of the best books I have read in years and years. Yes they are technically “young adult” but are not written in a juvenile or off-putting way for an adult. They are nothing at all like the Twilight series (which I get asked a lot). The story grabs you, sucks you in and is totally amazing. I died a little when I finished them, they were that good.

This collection of polishes includes twelve new colors with a variety of finishes. I did have a few issues with the formula of some of them, more on that below.

The next big trend now that we have gone through tons and tons of crackles and then magnetic polishes is definitely flake glitter. It seems as though everyone is now coming out with their own version (more coming soon that haven’t yet been announced yet ) and I am NOT complaining about this trend! Flake glitters are my absolute favorite “effect” in a nail polish. To me they are better than duo-chromes, multi-chromes, holographics, regular glitters, bar glitters, crackles, magnetics, etc. I LOVE them. I love the irregular pattern of them and love how they make your nails looks like they are glowing. Plus they are usually much easier to remove than traditional glitter.

Finger Paints jumped on board with their new Special Effects Collection only available at Sally Beauty Supply starting in January.

This collection includes five different flake glitters: Asylum, Flecked, Twisted, Motley and Flashy. They are all set in a clear base, so are best used over a black or dark color. I used two coats of the flake glitters over a black base for all photos. You can get a good amount of flake coverage though using just one coat, but I prefer two.

Ice Baby is the newest nail collection from Wet n Wild for holiday 2011. It’s limited edition and exclusive to Walgreens.

I know plenty of you have been on the lookout for this collection to no avail yet. But hang in there, hopefully you’ll find it soon!

This collection is comprised of eight new colors, all super glittery and sparkly (and not easy to remove, especially when you swatched them all at once).

They don’t come in a full sized bottle, but rather a smaller 0.34 oz bottle. But at $2.99, they’re a steal!

I used three coats for all of these because I wanted as much coverage and glittery fabulousness as I could muster. They are definitely thicker when you apply that many coats, but not overly hard to work with.

One of my favorite things about SpaRitual is how environmentally friendly they are. Their polishes are Vegan, big-3 free and packaged in recycled bottles. I also love the rubberized caps, it really helps when you’ve got slippery lotion on your hands!

I love that this collection isn’t a bunch of colors you would expect in a fall collection. In fact quite a few of them seem more like spring colors. But they totally work anyway.

The formula cannot be overlooked here, these are really amazing, as most of their polishes are. They are so smooth, creamy and perfect! All of these covered completely in two coats.

Duri is introducing us to twelve new shades this fall and winter in a two-part collection called Angels & Demons. Angels features lighter, sweeter colors and Demons features mysterious and deeper colors.

First thing I noticed is Duri’s new bottles, they rock! I love the new bottle shape, and especially the logo which is now etched into the glass, rather than printed on. Very classy I think.

The formula is really pretty nice with all of these. I had only minor streaking with one of them and that was really the only issue. Great coverage on all of these, they were all just two coats.
