BB Couture Spring 2009

Hi folks, today I’m showing you BB Couture’s Spring 2009 collection. Let me apologize in advance for the craptastic shape of my nails. I have been having major peeling and splitting issues for some reason so I keep having to cut them very short and then I can never get the same shape twice! Gargh! See even nail polish bloggers can’t always have perfect nails. smile BB Couture Spring 2009

So the weird thing for me about this collection is that two of the colors look vastly different on me than on some of the other bloggers (Scrangie & e-Polishblog). I am thinking this must be due to lighting and camera angle, but it turns out I like the way the polish turned out on them WAY better than on me, which kinda sucks! Pics taken in sun & shade with no top coat.

Dazzle Dry Nail Polish

Hi Vampies! Today I am bringing you a brand that is new to me, though not technically new. The name is Dazzle Dry and it’s by VB Cosmetics. The Dazzle Dry lacquers come in about 35-40 different colors right now and dry super duper fast. When I say fast I am not kidding, I am talking 5 minutes. They were nice enough to send me these colors to try out and when used with a base coat, 2 coats of color and their top coat, my nails were COMPLETELY dry in 5 minutes! Amazing. The only downfall of this is that 24 hours later, I had many chips. However, having said that, the base coat they sent me seemed to be very old because when I tried it, it bubbled immediately, so I wound up using CND’s Stickey. Maybe it would have lasted better if I had used their base coat. I had no application issues with any of these and the colors are really cool! Pics in sun with no top coat.

Dazzle Dry Vive LeViolet Dazzle Dry Nail Polish
Vive LeViolet
Vive LeViolet is a really nice creamy mid-toned violet/lavender that leans towards pink. Sorry about the middle finger issue, I had something on my nail. Anyway, I think this color is definitely suited more to those that are fair toned. This is two coats.

Lancome Midnight Glam Nail Polish

Happy Tuesday folks. I won this polish last month in a contest I entered and was highly excited. You see, this is only the third thing in my entire life I have ever won! The first was a CUP OF LEMONADE at a yelling/singing contest (the hokey pokey) at a roller rink when I was like 10. How lame is that? The second was just a couple years ago at work, I won third place in the animal category of a photo contest. And now this. I was super excited about this color from what I saw online, but I have to say I am disappointed after trying it out. Pics taken in sun with no top coat.

Midnight Glam
The color just turned out to be kind of anti-climactic to me for some reason. Yes it’s a shimmery midnight blue with light blue particles throughout. But it just doesn’t *wow* me at all. Not to mention my issues with the handle. More on that below. This was two coats.

Essie Spring 2009 Collection

Hidey ho there neighbor! Today I am bringing you Essie’s Spring 2009 collection. This is a fairly “safe” collection (with one fabulous exception) of creme polishes that overall I liked a lot. There were a couple that I wasn’t totally blown away by but a couple I am very fond of as well. All the colors went on very smooth and creamy and I had no application issues. All pics taken in sun with no top coat.

Essie Eternal Optimist Essie Spring 2009 Collection
Eternal Optimist
As you might have guessed Eternal Optimist was the one that impressed me the least. That’s not to say it’s not a good color, but on me it just didn’t work. It’s too “beige-y” and there wasn’t enough contrast between my skin tone and the polish to make it work. It’s a great “work safe” color though (for stuffy offices, yuck) so I guess I can just thank my lucky stars that I can wear ANYTHING I want to work! This is three coats.

China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection – Cool

I am so glad I got all of these because they are being discontinued soon and they are SO worth owning. If you love a holo, then you will love these. They are the most holographic polishes I have come across. The application on all of these was fabulous with no problems. Because I like the base to be very pigmented, I did three coats for all. Today I’ll show you the cool colors and later on the warm ones. All pics taken in sun with no top coat.
