Sally Hansen Salon – Fall 2008 Swatches

Let me start this post by saying I searched all over Hell’s creation trying to find this collection which supposedly came out in Target, Rite Aid, Long’s etc., in September. Well let me tell you people, after searching about 10-15 drug stores and not finding a single one, I had to resort to eBay. I was highly annoyed because it’s not like the San Francisco Bay Area is some small rural town! Anyhoo, I got 4 of my favorite ones and the pics and reviews are below.

Stormy Blue

I was very prepared to fall madly in love with this color, especially after seeing All Lacquered Up do her swatch. Alas, I was a tad let down. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the color but it doesn’t make me swoon for some reason. The application was really nice, though I did have to use 3 coats. It’s a beautiful silvery blue with a nice metallic-ish shimmer. Maybe it’s my skin tone, I don’t know, but I was expecting more from this color.

OPI Holiday in Toyland Collection

As soon as I saw swatches of OPI’s Holiday in Toyland collection on The Nailphile and All Lacquered Up, I knew I was a goner. I didn’t order them all, I got the five I liked the best judging from their swatches, and I am NOT disappointed! All pics are taken in sunlight with no top coat. Enjoy!

“Sheer” Your Toys!

I love this polish, it’s one of my favorites this season. It’s a really gorgeous lavender/grey shimmer that really isn’t “Sheer” after 3 coats. One of the coolest things about this (which you can’t see in my pics of course) is that it has red sparkles in it! They are subtle but there and it makes it like nothing else I own.

Random Swatches – Orly, CND, Nicole by OPI

I am finally back from San Antonio and feel SO swamped with both regular work and website stuff! I have been desperate to show some swatches I did a couple weeks ago so I am doing this post now. I also have a gazillion new polishes I need to swatch still and will hopefully get to some of them today. The swatches below (all taken in sunlight) are older colors from Orly, CND and Nicole by OPI but I hope you will find them useful!

Velvet Rope

As I have found with most Orly polishes, the application was really nice. This is 2 coats here. This is a really pretty grape color with lots of large-ish lavender & silver glitter particles. Very nice and shimmery in the sun and indoors.

October means…Halloween Nails!

It’s finally October, which means I can show you my cute Halloween swatches! If you read my “teaser” post here then you would know how much I love Halloween! I am featuring Wet n Wild’s Fantasy Makers colors in Black Pearl and Black Magic. I am also featuring some other unmarked polishes that were right next to the Wet n Wild ones in a rose shaped bottle (they could be Wet n Wild but am having problems confirming this). My hubbie discovered these yesterday in the Halloween aisle at Walgreen’s and got them for me (isn’t he nice?). Really the bottle itself is the best part, but the red actually turned out to be a pretty color. Anyhoo my reviews are below each picture, as usual. Happy Hauntings!

Black Pearl – Indoor

I was actually quite surprised at the opaqueness of this black. I could have almost gotten away with 1 coat but used 2. This is a nice smooth shiny jet black creme and for a buck, who can complain?

ManGlaze The Death Tar vs. Other Black’s

Now I am going to feature ManGlaze‘s black polish which is called The Death Tar vs other black’s in my collection. Like their grey polish, Fuggen Ugly, I had no problems with the formula, it was smooth and wonderful. Below are pics of it with and without a Seche top coat.

The Death Tar – Natural light no top coat

As you can see this is a dull black finish. Great color I think but wait until you see it with a top coat!
