Have you heard of Sleek Makeup? I hadn’t until my friend Helen told me about them recently. We did a swap and she sent me some of their palettes, since they aren’t that easy to get in the states (you can order from their website though).
Sleek Makeup is an inexpensive-ish brand from the UK. They offer a wide-range of products including some very cool twelve-piece eyeshadow palettes.
Helen thought I would love them because the colors are pretty, they feel great and are super opaque. She wasn’t exaggerating at all, these babies have major color payoff and feel like velvet!
There are five different palettes listed on their website now, but I have been told they do frequently come out with other, limited edition ones, which tend to sell out pretty quickly.
The Original palette contains a variety of basic colors from pale to super vivid. All are shimmers with the exception of the black, which is matte.
The packaging is quite nice. They come in pretty sturdy feeling black plastic cases, and open up to a really nice, large mirror. They come with a two-sided foam brush, which I wouldn’t use.
I couldn’t believe the payoff here folks! First off they are very satiny in feel, no grit, no chalkiness here. So soft. The colors are very saturated and amazing, you really don’t need a lot on your brush. A little bit spreads out very nicely.
There is some fall-out with these, since they are shimmery/powdery, but that’s no biggie.
There are no individual color names, which is not really a negative, but I would prefer names so it’s easier to discuss. 🙂
Matte black, bright shimmery purple, deep teal shimmer.
The teal blue color her in particular is really beautiful, but I love the purple as well.
First row cont’d
Bright medium shimmery blue, blue/green shimmer, medium celadon green shimmer.
These are all really pretty, bright, mermaid-like colors!
Pale shimmery lemon yellow, pale pink/gold shimmer, pale rose/pink shimmer.
These are more subdued and more natural looking colors. I particularly love the middle one because it’s a beautiful almost duo-chrome color.
Bottom row cont’d:
Deep copper shimmer, medium gold shimmer, medium olive-green shimmer.
The copper is very saturated and I’m loving the gold and especially olive-green. They would look great together.
The other palette I have from Sleek is called Storm. These are more earthy and this palette has more “natural” looking colors. There are more dark ones here also, and a couple matte ones, but most are shimmery.
Light warm gold shimmer, bright pale champagne shimmer, medium matte milk chocolate brown.
I love the gold shimmer here the most. The matte brown one didn’t have as much payoff as I would have liked and it was a little patchy.
First row cont’d
Light cool gold shimmer, medium pink shimmer, medium cranberry shimmer.
I just love the pale gold and cranberry colors. Lately I am really into cranberry colored shadows and liners, I think they are perfect for fall and make blue eye really pop.
Deep copper/bronze shimmer, deep blue/silver shimmer, dark forest green shimmer.
Um wow, these are all totally amazing but I’m especially drawn to the copper (again copper makes blue eyes really stand out) and that GREEN!!!
Second row cont’d
Deep indigo shimmer, dark chocolate brown matte, black matte.
Of course the indigo is really amazing. The black is a nice creamy jet black. Again this matte brown was a little patchy and not as opaque as the shimmers. But it did apply better than the lighter brown matte in this palette.
I think these are really pretty amazing palettes and the feel and payoff of them is right on par with any more luxurious cosmetics brand. At $11.75 it averages out to just under $1.00 per eyeshadow (excluding shipping of course) and that’s pretty good in my book! I definitely recommend checking these out if you are in the market for an amazing palette or two.
