OPI Suede Collection Fall 2009

It’s Saturday and it’s a long weekend and I’m feelin’ fine! How are you guys today?

OPI is releasing a collection of six previously released colors in a “suede” finish this fall. It sounds kinda weird, but it’s really cool and unique looking. They are a cross between mattes and satins and I really like them all. The only thing I would have changed about them is the names. It gets confusing when you have Lincoln Park After Dark, Lincoln Park After Dark Matte and Lincoln Park After Dark Suede, if you know what I mean…

The formula on these is really great. They could really all be one coaters because they are really opaque, but I did two coats here. They dry really quick and are smooth to the touch. Peep ‘em!

You Don’t Know Jacques! is a shimmery golden taupe color. This color was also featured in their matte collection.

OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part II

As promised, here is Part II of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. These are the colors I feel are more safe and more easily dupable to others we’ve seen before. All of these in theory are nice colors and they mostly all looked good on me, however they were all a little plain and conservative for my tastes. It’s funny because most of these colors seemed like summer colors to me rather than fall.

The formula was perfect on all of these. All but one required only two coats and like I’ve said before, that’s always a plus! Check ‘em out.

Pink Flamenco

Pink Flamenco is my favorite out of these six. It’s a cool, bright pink creme. I am loving this color right now as a pedi and it’s very summery and pretty.

OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 – Part I

Happy Monday peeps, hope your week has started off well! Today I have your first look at full swatches of OPI’s Spain collection for fall 2009. There are 12 polishes in this collection and they are all cremes. Well ok that’s not entirely true, three of them (the best three in my opinion) have a very interesting and subtle shimmer but we’ll discuss those below.

I’m feeling like at least 50-70% of these are pretty basic colors that we have seen before. They’re mostly pretty safe and I think there are too many pinks and red/oranges thrown in here. I don’t know, it just seems as though pink and red have been done to death and can’t we do something more progressive and interesting? But having said that, there are some that I really liked a lot and a few that I LOVED. The formula on these was pretty spot on. They were thick, opaque, creamy and smooth and almost every single one was perfect in just two coats. Definitely a plus!

This is part I of this post and I’m showing the six that were my favs and I think will be the fan favorites as well. Enjoy!

OPI Pampelona Purple OPI Spain Collection for Fall 2009 Part I
Pamplona Purple

Pamplona Purple is a really flattering medium grape creme. This is what I would classify as a pinkish purple. This may not be the most earth shattering color, but I feel it’s very wearable and a great fall color (and summer for that matter) and I definitely will be wearing it. This was two coats.

OPI Matte for Fall 2009

OPI will soon be releasing their first fall 2009 collection and it’s all matte! They are not new colors, but they are a new finish. They are not meant to be worn with either a base coat or top coat and they also say to avoid using hand lotion. I assume they say that because a lot of hand lotions make nails glossy and the whole point is to have these matte and flat. I have reviewed matte polishes from a few other brands such as ManGlaze and KO Cosmetics and I really like the finish. Let’s see how these turned out!

OPI Alpine Snow OPI Matte for Fall 2009
Alpine Snow Matte

Normally I am not much of a “white” nail polish person, especially if it’s close to White Out white. But turns out I really liked Alpine Snow! It really is as close to White Out as I can imagine and having the finish be matte made it even more so. It wasn’t as streaky as I thought it would be though it did have some streaks the first two coats. I needed three coats for solid coverage.

Three Rare Greens from OPI & China Glaze

I recently acquired three rare green polishes that I have been wanting for quite awhile. These were all found from different sellers on eBay and definitely purchased at a high-ish price, BUT it was worth it to me. I know a lot of people hate eBay or feel as though they are getting ripped off from sellers on there. For me personally, I don’t see it. People pay for what they feel things are worth. If they didn’t pay it, then the sellers wouldn’t be charging it. Just my opinion though and I am not trying to instigate a comment war! If you Google these, you will be able to find them on eBay as well. Check around though because some sellers have them for $10.00 cheaper than others. Enjoy!

At Your Quebec & Call came from OPI’s Canada collection many years ago, before I was as into polish as I am now, so of course I missed it. Now it’s been discontinued so it’s harder to find. I really wanted this one because olive green is my favorite nail polish color. I don’t know WHAT it is about olive green that I love so much! I have yet to find one that doesn’t look good on me, so maybe that’s part of it. The color is an olive green with a lot of gold in it. It’s got nice light green and pink shimmer as well. The application was fabulous and creamy and this was three coats. This one is still available for a fairly decent price anywhere from $7.50 and on up, depending on who you go through, so get it while it’s still available!
