The OCC Stained Gloss After Dark Set just might be the perfect little thing for someone on your holiday shopping list who is looking to “break into” the brand.
This limited edition holiday set includes four “Test Tube” sized Stained Gloss shades as well as a mini #010 Precision Lip Brush. Stained Glosses are different than Lip Tars in that these are more sheer giving you a more stained effect rather than major pigmentation. Little Black Dress, which is new to Sephora, can be used by itself or mixed with brighter shades to make them deeper and more dramatic.
Hedonist is a blue-based pastel pink.
Jealous is a bright red/orange.
New Wave is a bright fuchsia pink.
Little Black Dress is a sheer glossy black.
I think these are a bit more user friendly than Lip Tars are, especially if you haven’t yet tried Lip Tar. Because they have a sheer stained finish they are more forgiving on the lips and you don’t have to be quite as perfect as you do when applying Lip Tar. I really love Jealous and New Wave especially, I think they are the most wearable of the shades, but Little Black Dress is really great to have as well because you can transform so many shades with it.
This set is available at Sephora now.
Are you a fan of the Stained Glosses yet?
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pro’s Picks Portables Lip Tar Test Tube x 12 Set is brand new and available now!
This set includes twelve test tube sized Lip Tars (0.08 oz) in both metallic and matte textures. It also comes with their Precision Lip Brush, which is the perfect brush to apply Lip Tar with.
I do not have lip swatches of these because my lips are tore up at the moment so I thought I would spare you the sight. Sorry!
Interlace is a pale peach creme matte.
Zhora is a peachy shade with pink shimmer.
Annika is a neutral peach creme.
Cha Cha is a tangerine creme.
Grandma is a coral creme.
Vintage is a deep burgundy creme.
Harlot is a bright red creme. Perfect classic red.
Nylon is a neon bubblegum pink. Love this bright pink!
Digitalis is a pink/lilac creme.
Hoochie is a bright magenta creme. Another seriously amazing shade, I highly recommend this one.
Sebastian is a plum-toned taupe creme. This is my favorite one because it reminds me so much of MAC Folio which I wore the hell out of in the 90’s. It made me look dead, but I liked it anyway!
Iced is a pure white frosty metallic.
Ok I do have one iPhone 6 photo of me wearing Sebastian here for ya.
You can find this set at Sephora now!
Which are your favorite shades here? Would you buy this set if you are new to OCC to check them out?
The other day I reviewed the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Unknown Pleasures Nail Lacquer shades for fall/winter 2014. Today I’ve got a simple nail art look using a couple of them.
I decided on using Covet (a camel colored creme) and Dangerous (a grey creme) because I felt like these went together really nicely plus it looks very much like a fall look to me.
The look is so simple.
- I painted most of my nails with Dangerous, except for the ring finger, where I used Covet.
- I then used the new Milani Quick Dry Top Coat over it to speed up the process.
- Next I used a dotting tool and dotted Covet onto Dangerous for the middle finger (and thumb which isn’t shown).
- Then, using a nail brush I painted on some random lines of Dangerous onto Covet for the ring finger.
- For the pointer and pinky, I just free-handed a diagonal line of Covet across them, then filled in the space creating a blocked look.
- Then I topped everything off with another coat of Milani Quick Dry Top Coat.
The collection will be available online at Sephora.com, Beautylish.com, and OCCMakeup.com beginning today, August 5th, and available for purchase at participating Sephora stores and at OCC’s flagship boutique on September 19th.
Do you like simple, kind of abstract nail art looks like this?
The Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Unknown Pleasures Nail Lacquer collection hits online stores soon and I’ve got some swatches for ya!
Taken from the New York Fashion Week runways, the shades in this collection are on trend yet super edgy and cool. There are some cremes and some amazing metallics in the 6-piece collection. All are limited edition except for Dangerous.

Covet is a buff/camel creme. This had a really good, if a little thick, formula. I love this shade because it’s unusual and kind of ugly/pretty. This was two coats.
Dangerous is a medium/deep grey creme. This is the perfect grey creme. You can see a little bit of blue in it, which I love. The formula was excellent it was nearly one coat but I used two.
Pagan is a blackened purple creme. This baby is super dark, nearly black looking, but not quite. I did use three thin coats because it wasn’t completely even with just two. Very glossy!
Poison is a shimmery ivy green metallic. Loving this dark green color, though it is a little bit brush-stroke-y if you aren’t careful. It covered really nicely with two thin coats.
Technopagan is a blackened purple with blue pearl metallic. This is nearly as amazing as the Lip Tar with the same name, but not quite – but only because that Lip Tar is freaking INCREDIBLE! This color is gorgeous, rich and the formula was excellent. This was two coats and it’s less brush-stroke-y than Poison was.
Distortion is a dark shimmery navy blue metallic. I like that it’s not so dark that it looks black, you can definitely tell it’s blue. This was a wee bit brush-stroke-y, but again not as much as Poison. Two coats covered really nicely.
I like all of these shades but am especially in love with Covet, Technopagan and Poison.
