New this spring from Jessica is the It’s a Girl Thing collection.

This bright, fun collection features six new shades all inspired by and named after people the founder Jessica Vartoughian knows.

Upon first glance at the bottles I will admit, I wasn’t all that impressed. I thought they might be boring bright cremes. But they are really SO much better than that! They all have really nice shimmer in them, some more subtle than others. And let me talk about the formula for a second. It’s great. Jessica normally has a really nice creamy, smooth formula, and this collection was the same. All shades here were just two coats, some nearly covered completely in one.

When you think of Christmas colors traditionally you think of green, red, white, gold and silver right? But my favorite combo is actually a bit different.

I love a pale, icy blue with red and white. It’s actually one of my favorite color combinations in general, not just for Christmas. But something about it does say the holidays to me.

For this manicure I used Jessica Barely Blueberry for the base (three coats) then China Glaze With Love and Snow for the various sized dots.

Jessica Gelato Mio is a collection of six Italian ice cream inspired hues. This collection invokes the beach, dripping sweet Italian ice cream, and endless long hot summer nights with a man named Henry Cavill.

Wait, maybe that’s just me.

Incidentally I feel that Henry should be the one to play Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Now I admit, I could only get through little more than half the first book because the writing was so horrendous (if I ever hear the term “inner goddess” again I will kill myself) but think he’s perfect.

I digress. Back to nail polish.

These six new shades are all pastel cremes, but don’t write them off as chalky boring pastels. Some of these shades are pretty unique, and nearly all covered in just two coats.

Happy Monday morning! I hope your weekend was a great one.

Today I’ve got two very similar new colors to compare. Jessica Witchy Wisteria from the Heavy Petal collection and Zoya Tru from the True collection.

Both of these are dark purples with a fiery red and gold shimmer. But are they exactly the same?
