Deborah Lippmann The Mermaids is new for summer 2013. This new collection features four new shades, all inspired by last year’s fan favorite Mermaid’s Dream.

Deborah wanted to create a new family of colors inspired by the same glittery, shimmery formula of Mermaid’s Dream. I think she did just perfectly! These all definitely seem to belong to the same family.

The one I do not have is called Mermaid’s Eyes, which is described as a seaside cerulean. The other three have a pretty nice formula. They all were just two coats. I got a good amount of base and glitter coverage with each coat, and there was no sliding of the glitter with the second coat after waiting about 2 minutes in-between. These actually look a bit less gritty and lumpy to me than Mermaid’s Dream, so that’s a bonus!

The Deborah Lippmann Staccato Nail Collection is here, new for spring, and available for sale now on her site!

This collection includes three new shades, all candy-colored, milky bases with small specks of black hexagonal glitter throughout. They are very similar to the Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles shades, except those ones have more colors of glitter in them. Like the Hard Candy ones, these were all two coats for complete coverage.

As far as application, it’s pretty much a breeze. You get a lot of glitter with each coat, and it doesn’t move around much with a second coat, if at all. It stays put! What I like it some of the glitter kind of sinks into the background making it look greyish and some stays on top, which looks obviously black.

Deborah Lippmann Gel Lab is a new duo out this spring that contains Coat of Arms (base coat) and Shining Armor (top coat). This is a gel-like nail system which is supposed to give you the high-gloss, long-wear, quick-dry look of a regular gel manicure but without the UV curing light.

It’s removable like any nail polish, just a simple nail remover takes it all off.

But does it really work?

Deborah Lippmann and HBO have partnered together for a limited edition collection based on the HBO series GIRLS.

Each one of these shades is inspired by one of the four girls on the show, and I have to say, the colors match the characters pretty perfectly! I caught up on season 1 a couple months ago and am now watching season 2. Great show!

Here is some background on the characters in case you don’t watch:

• Marnie – She’s the more responsible and serious of the four. She worked in an art gallery so a soft, conservative shade fits well.
• Shoshanna – She’s a fast-talking, kooky character. Innocent and a bit of a late bloomer so a shimmery purple suits her.
• Hannah – The star of the show (written by and played by Lena Dunham) is a struggling writer who can be moody and quirky, but very loyal (ish). The non-so-common green suits her really well.
• Jessa – She is a bohemian Brit. Very free, very spiritual in a strange way. This burgundy red creme is a great one for Jessa.

Finally we have reached the third and final of the Deborah Lippmann True Blood nail lacquer sets. This one is called Bad Things Mini Nail Lacquer Trio and it comes with, you guessed it, three mini nail colors.

The colors in this set are pretty spot on. I could definitely see them in the show in various ways. Obviously New Flesh reminds me of a vamp chomping down on “fresh meat”. Strange Love reminds me of a shade either Sookie would wear OR possibly even Pam (my fav character). And of course Bad Blood is a deep red bloody shade.
