Kat Von D has a brand new True Romance Eyeshadow Palette out called Mi Vida Loca available only at Sephora.

As you know, I have a sick obsession with owning these palettes but this one really called to me anyway because it’s filled with fun, bright colors! And no creme shadows! No black! And a cool mini Autograph Eyeliner Pencil in Wonderchild.

There are a couple things I don’t love about this palette though. It comes in her newer metal case that has a spring-lock mechanism. What I don’t like about it is that it pops fully open so you cannot get the mirror part inside to tilt upwards. It lays completely flat and there is nothing you can do about it. I preferred her plastic palettes to these ones, but it’s not a big enough issue that it would stop me from buying them. Just annoying.

Sometimes, just sometimes I see some cool stuff from the Sephora brand that catches my eye. Awhile ago I saw their Jumbo 12 Hour Wear Waterproof Crayon Liners and some of the colors really spoke to me.

These stubby pencils come in 14 colors and can be used as liners or smudged out as eyeshadows.

They claim that they are resistant to water, heat and humidity and last 12 hours.

Did you know that Sephora has a line of lip glosses called Ultra Shine Lip Gloss and the color range includes 27 colors? I sure didn’t until recently!

I kind of always overlook the Sephora brand makeup for some reason, heading more towards the names I am very familiar with. However, when I saw the huge display of all these lip glosses, I could not pass up looking.

The Ultra Shine Lip Glosses are super shiny, moisturizing glosses that have “multi-holographic” shimmer in them. Say the word holographic and I am pretty much there.

They also come in three different types of shine:

- Reflex: ultra-opalescent effect for a jewel-like finish
- Shimmering: opalescent effect for an elegant luster
- Shiny: opalescent-free, for a wet-looking effect

The color that STOOD OUT in a big way for me is called Reflex Dazzling Violet. Since I was trying this for the first time, this is the only one I snagged.

Trying to be more adventurous with my brands, I decided to pick up the Sephora Colorful Artist Eyeshadow Palette recently.

This palette features 15 eyeshadow colors that are either shimmery or glittery, with one matte color.

The first thing that struck me was how small the palette is. Now it’s not as small as say that Stila Jewel Eye Palette from awhile back, but it’s a bit smaller than I imagined.

The eyeshadows inside are a about nickel sized, so not TOO small.

I love the design of the outside. It’s in a sleek black, kind of heavy-feeling plastic, and the white etched-look is super cute.

Another great thing to note is the colors actually have names, yay! So often I find these larger palettes don’t have names associated with the colors, which kind of bothers me. You can find them all on the back.

As far as how the shadows feel and apply it’s good and bad. Most were decently pigmented and had good color payoff. However, some of the glitter ones felt a bit scratchy and not very soft. The shimmery ones definitely applied smoother and softer, though a couple of those were patchier. More on the specifics below.

Sephora has these nifty little Ultra Vinyl Lip Pencils out in a variety of colors and since I have been on a lip pencil kick lately (see here and here), I decided to pick up a few with the F&F sale they recently had.

I haven’t tried that many Sephora brand products and I’m not sure why. I think I assume they are “lesser” quality because they are the store’s own brand, but clearly that doesn’t always ring true.

These babies are jumbo sized pencils that are a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss. Oh also of course it’s kind of a lip liner as well since they are pencils and easy to control.

They have the opacity and coverage of a lipstick, but leave a nice shiny finish like a lip gloss. They are very smooth going on and feel very moisturizing.

Currently they offer eight different colors.
