Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Isn’t this week weird? I always feel like the week in-between Christmas and New Years is like this odd limbo kind of place to be in. I just want to get into 2017 and move on past this BS year!

As you may have heard the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette has recently come to Sephora and I purchased it when it was out for VIB Rogue folks. Yeah I have 3,900+ points…Gulp. This triangular shaped palette features a white holographic cover and inside you will find a mirror and four color-shifting shadow colors. They are “transformers” meaning you can use them over eye shadows or lipsticks and change them into really cool prismatic looking colors. You can also use them as a highlighter if you wish. They are very soft and super easy to blend.

The idea of holographic transformers isn’t new. In fact I owned this Sebastian Trucco AngelFace Holographic Colour Collection way back in the mid 90’s and used it a TON. This is my second one and I have the matching Lip Gloss collection as well. The Trucco one is long-since discontinued but you can still find it on Amazon. It has the same exact shades as in the KVD one, plus an extra one, which is a yellow-ish prismatic.

(Green) Emerald, (Blue) Saphyre, (ultra-violet) Amethyst, (pink) Opal (over primer)

Emerald is a green color.

Saphyre is a blue color.

Amethyst is a violet shade.

Opal is a pink shade.

Sorry this photo is blurry, they all came out that way dammit! But this shows you what the shades look like over a black gel liner (this is MAC Blacktrack). Pretty cool huh?

If you happen to have the Trucco one (I doubt many people still do though) and are wondering if you should get this here are my thoughts. This one is better because the shadows feel much softer and easier to blend, and more pigmented. The Trucco one might just not be as good because it’s so old, so who knows. But I think the Alchemist Palette is worth every penny!

You can find the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette only at Sephora and it’s $32.00.

Oh also, I happened to get an extra one, so there WILL be a giveaway soon! Make sure to follow me on Instagram because it’s likely going to be the only place to enter the giveaway.

So, are you going to be picking this one up?
