The new bareMinerals Skincare line covers a variety of products from cleansers to moisturizers to creams.
They believe in Purifying (revitalizing every time you cleanse with mineral rich sea salts), Empowering (enhancing the look and feel of your skin with long-life herb extract) and Moisturizing (soften and deeply hydrate using intuitive mineral moisture technology). There are various products depending on what skin type you have, and since mine is normal to dry, these three were chosen for me to try out.
Long life herb extract, which grows in the soil in Okinawa, Japan, is loaded with nutrients and is shown to have a higher mineral and vitamin content than both spinach and kale.
Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil is as the name implies, an oil-based cleanser. It contains bilberry, borage, cucumber and sunflower oils as well as mineral-rich sea salts. It’s very lightweight and has a really nice clean lavender/tangerine scent. You apply it to dry skin, working it into your face and makeup. Then add a little water and it turns into a milky emulsion. It washes off with warm water and does a great job of removing even hard to remove long-wear makeup without stripping skin. I’ve talked a lot about oil removers lately because that’s pretty much all I use now and I really love this one. My skin never feels tight or dry, it always takes off all traces of makeup and leaves it soft and nice smelling. Also, the bottle doesn’t leak at all which is a big plus, because some do leak!
Skinlongevity Vital Power Infusion is a serum which contains their patented long-life herb extract, California poppy extract and lempuyang ginger extract. These help replenish and restore the skin’s vitality and hydration, and helps reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It sinks into skin pretty quickly and what I really like is that there isn’t a sticky feeling afterwards, like some serums have. Easy to apply either for day and/or night before your moisturizer.
Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream is for dry to very dry skin and contains shea butter, intuitive mineral moisture technology, peptides, ceramides and amino acids. This is a nice and luxuriously rich cream which feels fabulous on the skin. It’s not too heavy, sticky or greasy feeling, and it works well at keeping my skin from not flaking off when I apply it over a Retin-A product.
So far so good! I’ve been using these for about 2 weeks now and have no complaints. I can’t really ever tell if serums actually do anything much positive for my skin, but they certainly don’t do anything negative, so I may still keep using it. I definitely love the oil remover and the Butter Drench cream.
This new line is available now online only at Sephora.
