The Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette is hhheeeeerrrrreeeeeeee! If you can’t tell, I was really excited about this palette coming out. First of all you know I am a Kat Von D palette freakazoid. I needs them all! But a matte eye palette? Yes please!
It features 12 eyeshadows arranged into 3 quads each with a base, contour, define and highlight shade. There is a neutral one, cool one and warm one. The colors are super soft, blendable and all go together really well. It also comes with a handy tips and tricks guide which shows you both a natural and a smokey look per quad.
Interesting thing is it has over 100 5 star ratings on Sephora and just 2 four star ratings and none lower than that. I didn’t love it quite THAT much just by judging hand swatches alone. But I have yet to try it on my eyes because I JUST got it, so my full opinion of it remains to be seen.
The Base color is a very pale neutral shade which is basically the exact same shade as my skin.
The Contour shade is a light taupe.
The Define shade is a deep brown.
The Highlight shade is a pale vanilla.
The Base shade is a pale mushroom-y taupe.
The Contour shade is a deep mushroom brown with very slight sheen.
The Define shade is a jet black.
The Highlight shade is a bright white.
The Base shade is a light peach/brown.
The Contour is a rich clay red/brown with very slight sheen.
The Define shade is a dark brown.
The Highlight shade is a champagne/tan.
These do feel super soft to the touch but I felt like the Neutral Quad didn’t swatch quite as nicely and evenly on my hand as the other two quads did. I love the colors in the Neutral and Cool Quads best, but the Warm Quad has some really great pigmented shades. As mentioned at the top, I haven’t yet worn these on my eyes so I don’t know how blendable they are yet on my lids. We shall see, I’m hoping for the best!
You can find this only at Sephora and it’s $46.00.
