We are rapidly hurdling towards spring (and for that I am so excited) so I thought I would show you a spring nail tutorial today featuring three of the 750 nail polish shades you can find at Sally Beauty Supply in their new Nail Studio.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of spring is flowers and light colors. The nail shades I chose were OPI That’s Hula-rious!, OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked? and FingerPaints Paper Mache, a brand that is exclusive to Sally Beauty. These are perfect colors for creating little spring daisies, which I had wanted to try for a while. Turns out they are so easy to create!
First up I painted my all my nails with two coats of OPI That’s Hula-rious!. Then I used OPI RapiDry Top Coat to speed up the drying time.
Once I let that dry for about 15 minutes, I went in with a simple dotting tool and placed orange dots using OPI Is Mai Tai Crooked? on my ring and pointer fingers. After that I used a smaller dotting tool and created tiny little dots to create the petals around the center of the daisy using FingerPaints Paper Mache.
The next step was to place a few more random orange dots of Is Mai Tai Crooked? around the daisies on my ring and pointer fingers.
After that I went back in with Is Mai Tai Crooked? and a dotting tool, and did a straight line of dots on my pinky finger.
Sometimes I like to keep one nail free of any design and just highlight the base nail shade, so the middle finger stayed clean.
I waited just a couple minutes for everything to dry, then went back over everything with OPI RapiDry Top Coat.
Lately I have been really into nail art that has a matte top coat because I think it shows the art work a little better without that reflective shine. So I tried this with OPI Matte Top Coat and I love the way it came out!
You can find everything I used for this tutorial, including nail shades, top coats and dotting tools at Sally Beauty.
What is your favorite springtime nail art look? Do you dig my daisies?
