Black Dahlia Lacquer Austin Collection

Black Dahlia Lacquer Austin Collection

The Black Dahlia Lacquer Austin Collection is a 10-piece vegan collection featuring nail lacquer shades inspired by the city of Austin.

This is my first ever experience with the indie brand, and I’m impressed with what I have tried out so far. This collection features crellies, shimmers and holos in a variety of unique and interesting shades.

The formula was pretty good with all of these. They tend to be on the thicker side and for the most part I only needed two coats. A few required three to get them completely even.

Black Dahlia Lacquer My Butter Half

My Butter Half

My Butter Half is a gold shimmer with gold micro-shimmer. This leans more towards the yellow side in my eyes but it’s lovely and unique just the same. This was three thin coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Capital Rose Garden

Capital Rose Garden

Capital Rose Garden is a coral pink with color-shifting shimmer and a scattered holo effect. The holo effect in this one is subtle, but it’s definitely there. This was two coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Austin City Limits

Austin City Limits

Austin City Limits is a light periwinkle linear holo with blue glass flecks, gold shimmer and gold micro-glitter. So unique and pretty! This is one of my favorites because I have nothing like it. I absolutely love the gold glitter with the periwinkle. This was three thin coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Barton Springs Babe

Barton Springs Babe

Barton Springs Babe is a green crelly with blue/green shimmer and navy blue flakes. Another favorite of mine. This is a beautiful green shade and I love the blue flakes throughout. This was two coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer South Congress Bats

South Congress Bats

South Congress Bats is a pale army green with scattered holo. This looks both army green and grey at the same time and I love the holo in it. It applied like butter in two coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer SXSW Fever

SXSW Fever

SXSW Fever is a deep teal with green shimmer and blue flakes. Yet ANOTHER beautiful shade. Pigmented, bright and unique. This was two coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Blue Bonnet Bingo

Blue Bonnet Bingo

Blue Bonnet Bingo is a bright blue crelly with purple shimmer. Whoa! Even though I did need three coats with this one to get it even, I am completely in love. This blue is stunning by itself but then add that shimmer and it’s even better. Love.

Black Dahlia Lacquer 90 in November

90 in November

90 in November is a medium violet with color-shifting shimmer. It’s bright yet deep, very pigmented and even and super pretty. This was two coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake

Lady Bird Lake is a navy blue linear holo with gold shimmer and gold glass flecks. I don’t see the glass flecks in this one as much as I see the holo, but it’s nice nonetheless. This was two creamy coats.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Woke Up on 6th Street

Woke Up on 6th Street

Woke Up on 6th Street is a holographic silver glitter with accents of gold, aqua and navy glitter. It’s meant to be a full coverage polish, but you could also do one thin coat over a colored polish. This is two coats here and it covered pretty nicely but not completely. It applies fairly evenly and I didn’t have any clumpy areas.

Black Dahlia Lacquer Austin Collection

Gorgeous shades! If I had one complaint about this line it’s that the brushes are really long (the bottle is also taller than a “normal” bottle) and that isn’t my favorite. Having said that though, it’s not hard to apply the polish, just maybe not what I am used to.

My personal faves here are Blue Bonnet Bingo, SXSW Fever, Barton Springs Babe and Austin City Limits.

You can find these on their website or their Etsy site and they are $6.00-$10.75 depending on size.

Wow! My Butter Half jumped right out at me and I don’t usally go for Yellows at all! Very pretty! The next one that stick out was Wake Up on 6th Street I think those 2 colors would be pretty together. Barton Springs Babe, SXSW Fever, and Blue Bonnet Bingo I like too. I think those too would look gorgeous with Wake Up on 6th Street over them!

At first when I saw the bottles they didn’t look like much but OMG they are amazing. I even like My Butter Half and I historically don’t like yellow polishes! Nice prices too!

These are really unique. It’s kind of hard to pick a fave. I love the reoccurring gold flecks and the fact that homage was paid to the bats.

Oh, wow, these look amazing on the nails! My Butter Half is such a pretty yellow. I’m not usually a fan of yellow, either.

I love these!!!!! I’m from Austin and I love every single one, although I could dream up an EXTENSIVE collection inspired by other parts of Austin. “Torchy’s Fried Avocado Tacos” green. “Please Don’t Move Here” purple. “Reusable Grocery Bags” red. Where’s the UT love???

I’m also laughing at “Lady Bird Lake.” The lake is NOT that color, and it’s still Town Lake to anyone who lived here before they changed the name. čśë

Wow! Gorgeous colors(and swatches). I really like My Butter Half and Austin City Limits. The bottle shape is kind of funny to me, it looks a lot like the 10 Professional bottles. Nobody seems to know much about that brand, I got one from my mom and one from a friend. I wonder if they get their bottles from the same manufacturer? Those coencidences are interesting to me. Anyway, great post!
