Neons by OPI

Neons by OPI is a new collection for summer 2014.

This is the first time they have added full-sized neon shades to their permanent collection, woo hoo! You can also get their Natural Nail Base Coat in Put a Coat On!, which is a white base coat that helps boost up the brightness of these neon colors.

I swatched all of these using the base coat and most of them were just two coats for great coverage. Some of them felt a little thick and I did have some minor issues with a few, which I’ll discuss below. They all dry with a matte finish, as neons do, so use a top coat to shine ’em up.

OPI Life Gave Me Lemons

Life Gave Me Lemons

Life Gave Me Lemons is a bright yellow/green. This was one of the ones I was most excited to try out and I am not disappointed. It’s super bright and I *think* it’s pretty unique compared to any other shades like this that I own.

OPI You are So Outta Lime!

You are So Outta Lime!

You are So Outta Lime! is a bright lime green. This is another one I was excited about. It’s a nice, bright clean looking lime green shade and had a nice formula.

OPI Hotter Than You Pink

Hotter Than You Pink

Hotter Than You Pink is a hot pink with blue shimmer. Lovely shade! It’s vivid and the shimmer is really pretty. I did use three thin coats because I had some cuticle drag on two nails.

OPI Down to the Core-al

Down to the Core-al

Down to the Core-al is an intense coral with subdued shimmer. This is a very pink coral shade and I really dig it. I wasn’t expecting any hint of shimmer in it because in the bottle it looks like a neon creme unless you hold it at a certain angle. It is on the thicker side though.

OPI Juice Bar Hopping

Juice Bar Hopping

Juice Bar Hopping is a bright tangerine orange. This is probably the brightest one out of the bunch. VERY vivid! It had a really nice, easy to use, smooth formula.

OPI Push & Pur-Pull

Push & Pur-Pull

Push & Pur-Pull is a bright purple. Ok this one gave me major grief. Even with three thin coats it didn’t cover evenly and I had cuticle drag. Not a fan of this one because of the formula. It could have been much better if it covered better.

Overall: I think most of these shades are really pretty and some are unique to other neons I own. There was actually only one I really didn’t like because of the formula and that was Push & Pur-Pull. The most unique shades are probably Life Gave Me Lemons, You are So Outta Lime! and Down to the Core-al.

Availability: Ulta, Trade Secret, Pure Beauty, etc. this month.

Pricing: $9.00 each.

Are any of these shades ones you will be picking up?
