Nicole by OPI is releasing 15 new nail shades for 2014 and I’ve got swatches of them all for you today!
These new shades are all available now at stores and I’m sure there is a shade or eight for each of you. The finishes run from cremes to glitters to a duochrome. Overall the formula was really great with most of these. I only needed two coats (over a ridge-filling base coat) to get nice coverage.
This one is Be Awesome. Isn’t it amazing looking?
Yoga-then-Yogurt is a soft white cream. I really like this white because it’s not a super stark white. It reminds me of a soft marshmallow. It had a great formula with nary a streak in sight.
Sweet Surrender is a very light pinkish/white cream. It might not look very pink here but when you see it next to Yoga-then-Yogurt, you can see it. I really love this soft shade also and the formula was perfect.
That’s Putting It Mild is a light milky coffee colored cream. Nice color, good formula.
Taupe Of My Class is a greenish/taupe cream. Here it looks more green, in the bottle it looks more taupe. It’s a really nice shade and beautiful formula that covered perfectly. Love this one.
I’ll Have The Salmon is a medium peach/pink with slight hidden shimmer. Very pretty, feminine shade, but a wee bit streaky on me with two coats.
At Least I Pink So is a light bubblegum pink cream. Pretty shade, but not that unique and it was a little streaky with two coats for me.
I Shop Mintage is a soft mint green creme. This shade reminds me so much of that 1950’s Fenton glassware! I really love the color of this one and the formula was better than the previous two.
Be Awesome has multi-colored holo diamond-shaped glitter in a clear base. As you might image, this wasn’t the easiest to work with. Getting the chunks of glitter out took some time and then you had to kind of dab it on to place them where you wanted, Having said that I still kind of love this! It’s very different from any other glitter I own and I think it looks really cool. You just need a little patience. Great, now I have Guns ‘n Roses stuck in my head.
Something About Spring is a bright hot pink cream. Very nice shade and pretty good formula.
Fabulous Is My Middle Name (over Something About Spring) is a pink, blue, gold, red and silver glitter with a clear base. The pink, blue and gold are short pieces of bar glitter and the red and silver are round pieces of micro-glitter. I actually looked at this glitter under a magnifying glass to figure out what colors were in there! By itself it’s not that great because it never builds up to cover the nail completely. But over something else it looks cool and it has a great easy-to-use formula. This was just one coat.
Always A Flirt! is a shimmery fuchsia. So pretty and glow-y! This had a very creamy and smooth formula and it’s just beautiful.
Oh That’s Just Grape! is a vivid purple with hidden silver shimmer. This is a nice medium purple and it had an excellent formula that covered perfectly.
Teal Me Something New is an intense green teal cream. I’m in love with this color and formula! It’s bright, rich, creamy and perfect.
This Blue Is So You! is a very dark blue cream. It’s not so dark that it looks black, but it’s more of a blackened, inky blue rather than a navy blue. Nice even formula.
Emerald Empowered is a green/blue metallic duochrome. This had a pretty nice formula and covered great in two coats. The duochrome effect isn’t quite as strong on the nail as it appears in the bottle though. Below I show it in low light and you can see the blue-ish tones it has.
Overall: I think there are some really great shades here. I wound up really liking some I never expected to like Yoga-then-Yogurt and Sweet Surrender. I also really loved Taupe Of My Class, I Shop Mintage, Be Awesome, Always A Flirt! And Teal Me Something New. The formula was pretty nice with most of these, with just a couple that maybe could have used three coats rather than two.
Availability: In stores now.
