Habit Cosmetics

Happy almost Friday!

Today I’ve got swatches of Habit Cosmetics Nail Polish. This is a fairly new brand (started in 2011) by Aja Frierson. She loved how small pops of color on the nails really make an outfit, but she also wanted to create a brand that was better for you and more environmentally friendly.

Habit Nail Polish is 5-free and contains myrrh extract. Myrrh is a natural ingredient which helps strengthen and give nails flexibility without chemicals. It’s also an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Who knew?!

The cap of the polishes is made from naturally sustained bamboo and it makes the little square bottles extra pretty in my eyes.

Habit Belle De Jour

Belle De Jour is a soft nude with iridescent pink shimmer. The formula is on the more sheer thinner side, so I used three thin coats here. Very nice subtle shimmer in this one.

Habit Darling Nikki

Darling Nikki is a vivid fuchsia with pink shimmer. This one is hot, bright and really pretty. I used three thin coats because the nail edges didn’t want to cover that easily with just two.

Habit Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet is a deep denim blue creme. This might look like just another blue creme but something about it really catches my fancy. I think maybe it’s the grey in it. Anyway this had a great formula and just two coats covers completely.

Habit Cosmetics Collage

Overall: This was my first time trying this line out and so far, so good. Belle De Jour is a little on the thinner side and I did have an area on my ring finger where it still refused to cover (pesky ridges). The other two had a slightly better, more creamy formula. I really like Darling Nikki, but Blue Velvet stole my heart!

These are a little on the more expensive side for the amount, but it is an indie brand, made in the USA and they’ve got those pretty bamboo caps, so all that tends to makes the prices higher.

Availability: Habit Cosmetics.

Pricing: $18.00 for .35 oz.

What do you think about these Habit shades? Would you spend $18.00 for .35 oz for a shade you really loved?
