Contrary Polish No Place Like Home for fall 2013 is inspired by Carrie’s (the creator of Contrary Polish) home town of Kansas City.
There are six new shades in the collection and West Bottoms is a nod Halloween and the haunted houses in the West Bottoms area of Kansas City. It glows in the dark!
The shades are as follows:
The Plaza (concrete grey with ruby red, bright blue, and yellow shimmer/microglitter)
The Boulevard (muted navy jelly with orange shimmer/microglitter)
Westport (dusty olive green with varied gold shimmer)
River Market (dark purple jelly with raspberry shimmer/microglitter)
18th & Vine (deep periwinkle with pink shimmer)
West Bottoms (bright yellowish green with gold to green shimmer; glow-in-the-dark and blacklight reactive)
I used three coats for all but 18th & Vine and The Boulevard. The formula with the jelly shades is a little trickier to work with. I suggest thin coats and waiting a good couple of minutes in-between each coat so you don’t get any dragging or pooling issues.
Overall: I really like this collection but a few shades in particular really stand out to me. I love Westport because it’s olive green and gold, a combo which I love. The Boulevard is really dark, murky and pretty, but my favorite has to be River Market. I love the deep purple base and the red/pink shimmer. It’s completely mesmerizing to look at!
Availability: On sale at Llarowe starting October 8th.
