Urban Decay Vice 2 for Holiday 2013

Urban Decay Vice 2

Urban Decay Vice 2. Urban Decay Vice 2. You know you want it, I know you do. Hey I made a rhyme. ;)

This review is the start of an entire night/day of brand new Urban Decay products for holiday 2013, all launching September 10th. Be prepared for an onslaught of fabulousness for the next 6 hours on the hour!

This palette was asked for by so many people and now they brought it back in a new version for the holiday season. This palette features twenty ALL NEW eyeshadow shades! Holy cannoli Batman.

It’s limited edition and features an abstract orchid design that is applied with a special process so no two palettes are exactly alike. Press a button and it opens up to a gigantic mirror and a dual-ended Good Karma Shadow and Crease Brush. Oh and of course there is a fancy-ass jeweled “UD” on the front.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Swatches
Smokeout, Lovesick, Shellshock, Coax, X-Rated (over primer)

Smokeout is a deep blackened taupe satin. This shade is amazing, I have nothing like it. Soft and saturated.

Lovesick is a black matte with iridescent micro-glitter. Nice and dark and the glitter doesn’t feel gritty.

Shellshock is a very intense metallic silver. Extremely pigmented and looks like metal.

Coax is a metallic pink with golden iridescence. I don’t normally fawn all over pink eyeshadow, but this one I really like.

X-Rated is a soft pink satin. Nice soft texture.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Swatches-2
Prank, Madness, Strike, Stash, Poison (over primer)

Prank is a very dark navy blue matte with turquoise shimmer. This is another amazing, amazing shade. So intense and unique!

Madness is a medium metallic blue with blue micro-glitter.

Strike is a medium antique gold with silver micro-glitter. Gorgeous shade.

Stash is a medium olive green with iridescent micro-glitter. So pretty, I love an olive green.

Poison is a charcoal grey satin with iridescent micro-glitter.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Swatches-3
Radar, Damaged, Voodoo, Betrayal, Derailed (over primer)

Radar is a medium metallic brown with iridescent micro-glitter. Cool shade.

Damaged is a vibrant and deep emerald green metallic with shimmer. Awesome and soft.

Voodoo is a metallic purple shimmer with iridescent purple micro-glitter.

Betrayal is a bright lavender with blue duochrome. Fabulous shade, super soft.

Derailed is a metallic taupe with shimmer. Another excellent shade, one of my favs.

Urban Decay Vice 2 Swatches-4
Dope, Toxic, Habit, Ambush, Rewind (over primer)

Dope is a pale pink champagne satin.

Toxic is a metallic copper/pink with coppery/pink micro-glitter. Great shade!

Habit is a very light nude matte. Good neutral in a sea of shimmers/glitters.

Ambush is a metallic chocolate brown satin. Very soft and intense.

Rewind is a medium brown matte. Soft and nice payoff.

Overall: I think this is a really great palette and there are some stunning eyeshadows in here. I don’t love these gigantic palettes in terms of size and portability, but it wouldn’t stop me from purchasing because the eyeshadow textures and colors are amazing. I do love that if the palette is this big, there is a HUGE mirror and the nice dual-ended brush. I think the stand-out shades are Smokeout, Coax, Prank, Strike, Stash, Derailed, Damaged and Ambush.

Availability: September 10th at Urban Decay, Sephora, Ulta, Beauty.com and select Macy’s.

Pricing: $59.00.

What do we think about Vice 2? Are you freaking out over this limited edition beauty?

I wonder if it attracts fingerprints since it’s glossy. Thanks for the swatches love! :)

Oh my giddy god I need this palette in my life.

  • September 9, 2013

I wonder…is Betrayal a dupe for Omen? Betrayal looks like it has more blue, but they look really similar.

Stash I don’t think is actually a new shade–rather one that has been brought back. I still have a shadow pan in the old formula.

I’m going to pass on this one even though the middle two rows are so tempting. I have a love/hate relationship with Vice 1. Love its gorgeousness, hate all the microglitter with my sensitive eyes. I wish Urban Decay would come out with something like the 15th anniversary palette–now THAT one had no microglitter in any of its shades.

This palette really has some beautiful shades. I controlled myself and held off on buying the Vice palette last year… let’s hope I can do it again this year. I just don’t get why these large palettes always have such a disproportionate amount of shimmer shades to mattes! Hmm..

I really like all the UD products this season however I’m pretty much banned from buying any until UD’s parent’ company gets rid of Hanoi Jane :l

Ugh every time I see “limited edition” I immediately pass. I wish companies would just make all colors all the time. You’d make more money in the long run instead of trying to make some sort of elitist system. Didn’t get online in the 3 minutes it was available? Too bad. Why companies like making eBay resellers rich, I have no idea…

I LOVE this palette! This was my first time buying a large high end palette, & it was worth the splurge! It’s so versatile, there’s plenty in it for smokey looks, edgy looks, colorful looks, & neutral looks!
