Deborah Lippmann Punk Rock Collection for Fall 2013

Deborah Lippmann Punk Rock

Tomorrow might be the first day of summer officially, but today is my first fall 2013 post!

The Deborah Lippmann Punk Rock Collection was previewed at the Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week and was inspired by the Grimms’ fairy tales inspired fashion of designer Lela Rose.

These aren’t just regular cremes or shimmer, they are textured and matte, which as you know, is super on-trend right now. I for one was really excited to try these out and I am really pleased with them. In fact, I think they are all totally awesome because I love textured polish still and I adore these unique shades.

Deborah Lippmann Punk Rock-2
Pretty Vacant, I Fought The Law, I Wanna Be Sedated

Deborah Lippmann Pretty Vacant
Pretty Vacant

Pretty Vacant (song by The Sex Pistols) is a “ghost grey” as she calls it. Love it, it actually reminds me of slightly mixed up concrete with the gritty texture! Super cool and two coats.

Deborah Lippmann I Wanna Be Sedated
I Wanna Be Sedated

I Wanna Be Sedated (song by The Ramones) is a mustard yellow/green shade. It’s one of those “ugly/pretty” shades and of course I am completely in love with it. It’s just badass, plain and simple. You’ll love it or hate it. Two coats.

Deborah Lippmann I Fought The Law
I Fought The Law

I Fought The Law (song originally by the Bobby Fuller Four and redone by The Clash) is a super dark navy blue with light blue sparkles. This is a really interesting shade because it combines texture, matte and sparkles all at once! Very cool and again, just two coats.

Deborah Lippmann Punk RockCollage

Overall: I truly love every one of these. I think these shades are really cool looking with the textured finish and each one was a shade/finish combination I haven’t seen before. They all were just two coats and dried rather quickly. Amazing collection!

Availability: July 2013 at Nordstrom,, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.

Pricing: $19.00.

What do you think about this collection? Do you love I Wanna Be Sedated or is it not your thing?

I like I Fought the Law, but the others? Meh. I Wanna be Sedated is … interesting.
On another note, it looks like your nails are a bit longer than usual. I really like them this length!

    • June 20, 2013

They were then I cut them last night haha. I cannot stand them longer sorry!

  • June 20, 2013

Textured polish creeps me out… I can’t do it lol.

I completely agree. Kind of like how clusters of circles makes me gag and itchy *shudders*

    • June 20, 2013

I understand, it’s not for everyone.

  • June 20, 2013

    I like only I Fought The Law…
But how cool is a polish with Sex Pistols song name?! I might buy it just because of this)

  • June 20, 2013

I love textured shades…but I Wanna Be Sedated looks like something that you would need to have lanced to me. :p

  • June 20, 2013

I Fought The Law looks amazing. The other two I’m not sold on. I like the colors but I’m not sure how i feel about the texture with those two.

Hmmmm….I don’t know why. I’ve not been crazy about the textured polishes of late. I do like the names of the polishes though — takes me back!

Hmm I’m not sure how I feel about creme textured polishes. Kind of looks like stucco to me! lol but I guess I kind of like the black!

It’s actually a navy blue with light blue shimmer :)

  • June 20, 2013

I wish I could love the yellow…but combined with the texture it reminds me of my cats occasional bile puke lol. Eeek! I like the texture of the liquid sands by OPI better too…more matte and dry looking.

    • June 20, 2013

      lmao, it does!

  • June 20, 2013

I love the colours but the texture spoils it for me.

I think I’ve finally decided I just don’t like the texture thing. I’ve tried a few, but they’re not for me. I think they look better on short nails like yours :D

Bummed! I can’t do textured- addicted to the smooth. and I was so excited to see the Punk and Ramones songs and all, too… Would totally go for I Fought the Law if it were not textured! But I hope DL continues her punk collections- maybe next time some songs to homage some of the badass ladies that spearheaded the punk movement? would love that!

I like I Fought the Law.

Yeah, I’d have to say that I’m not a fan of textured nail polish.

But I have yet to purchase a DL nail polish .. must do this one day ;-)

no, i still don’t like textured cremes. too much like stucco. throw in some glitter and i am down though. the last one is my fave out of these three if i had to pick. at least it has some sparkle.

I like I Fought the Law, but I’ve not bought any of the textured polishes. My main reason being, they’ll go out of style & I’d be stuck with them as I know I would rarely wear them. That’s why I never bought any of the crackled polish too. But for those who do, I say go for it! ;-)

  • June 20, 2013

I want to like them, I really do. Maybe they’ll grow on me.

I can’t wait for this trend to be over! Bring back the flakies!

  • June 20, 2013

I like the textures, but only if they sparkle, and only on my toes. I wore one of the JulieG Gumdrops (the only ones I’ve been able to find so far) the other day on my fingers, and I couldn’t take my contacts out because of the grit. I had to remove the polish first!

But I got almost two weeks of wear out of Blueberry Fizz from JulieG on my toes. I had to change it because they grew out, there was absolutely no chipping :)

Oh dear, the yellow one looks like something I see at work-the hospital. Not going to go into detail as some of your readers may be eating. I had sand in my bedroom paint as a child so I think this prejudices me against the texture, I just think it’s hideous.

Ooooooo as a nail polish addict: those are hideous!

  • July 14, 2013

I don’t like the texture at all, I’ve tried other brands, it just annoys me and makes me want to pick at it. However, I did find with a coat or two, depending on the texture, of Gelous and then Seche Vite that you get a nice glass finish and at least with the two I tried it with, CRAZY sparkle from the gritty particles. Saved some gorgeous colors for me! I recommend that if you love one of these.

To be fair, I haven’t tried it on the Lippmann’s yet, I just ordered mine yesterday.

I think that I Wanna be Sedated is going to look terrible on me but I love the Ramones so I had to do it!

Gosh these are stunning. Love all of them. Really interesting polishes. Yellow is probably my fave, but want them all for the names alone!
